POSITION SUMMARY:

The PRN Mohs Histotech will provide part-time histotechnical services specifically focused on Mohs micrographic surgery, ensuring accurate and precise quality control while working closely with dermatologists in a dynamic clinical environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and cut frozen sections from tissue specimens utilizing Mohs surgical techniques.
• Process and embed tissue samples for histological evaluation and analysis.
• Perform staining techniques to prepare laboratory slides for the surgeon's review.
• Maintain accuracy and documentation for each step of the Mohs procedure.
• Monitor the quality control of prepared slides to ensure they meet laboratory standards.
• Interact positively and professionally with patients and clinical staff.
• Comply with all laboratory safety and regulatory practices as per CLIA standards.
• Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain knowledge of histotechnology practices.
• Ensure a sterile work environment and follow protocols regarding tissue disposal and specimen handling.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or physician.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field.
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred.
• Previous experience in Mohs histotechnology is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
