PRN Security Guard

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg, a 5-Star rated Continuing Care Retirement Community in Central VA is seeking a PRN / Limbo Security Guard to join our team! 

• Perform a variety of security duties to protect the safety and property of residents, employees, and the facility.  
• Patrol parking lots, property, and buildings to ensure their security.
• Check automobiles on site for improper parking and display of registration decals; issue tickets for vehicle violations. Maintain traffic control for special events.
• Respond to fire and intrusion alarms. Check alarm system and related emergency equipment. Participate in fire drills. Coordinate monthly fire extinguisher inspection, and other preventive maintenance on the fire/safety system.
• Provide information and direction to employees, visitors, and the general public.
• Assist in the investigation, preparation, and analysis of incident reports.
• Assist nursing staff with resident emergencies, transferring lab specimens to hospital for lab work, and setting up oxygen tanks. Follow-up calls placed to residents who do not respond.
• Provide assistance to residents and employees with locked car doors. Jump-start dead car batteries and pump flat tires for residents and employees as needed.
• Assist maintenance personnel in securing grounds of unwanted stray or wild animals using appropriate safety procedures.
• Provide assistance as needed for Reception Desk receptionist/switchboard operator including copying Update, answering telephones, delivering packages to employees and residents, referring messages to appropriate departments, etc.
• Remove and salt snow from sidewalks as necessary.
• Place core locks on residents’ apartment doors while on leave. Replace core door locks as assigned. Cut new keys as assigned.
• Assist van driver with maintaining company vehicles.
• Maintain security uniform.
• Provide secure entrance and exit for community funeral home services.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Excellent driving record
• CPR/AED Certified or ability to obtain upon hire
• Prior experience is preferred but not required
• Must be ambulatory for up to 12 hours and physically active
