Schedule: Monday-Friday, from 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM or until the shift completes + weekends occasionally.

Job Summary: The Processing Shift Lead supports the Shift Supervisor/Plant Management Team in coordinating daily operations during a designated shift. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for assigning tasks, monitoring workflow, supporting team members, and ensuring that production goals are met safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities (others may be assigned as business needs dictate):
- Understand, uphold, and communicate regularly the Company’s vision, mission and core values.
- Maintain strict adherence to all Company policies, processes and procedures in accordance with the Employee Manual, the Safety Manual, and The Animal Food Safety Plan.
- Serves as the go-to person for team members during the shift.
- Operate and train others on fork truck certification and yard spotter certification.
- Support training of new employees and coach team members in best practices.
- Responsible for relieving a supervisor in the circumstance they are not able to come in or must leave early.
- Assist with minor troubleshooting and escalate operational issues to the Shift Supervisor.
- Ensure proper documentation of production activity, timekeeping, and handovers.
- Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company policies.
- Attend all Company meetings and trainings as directed by management.
- Pursue and recommend industry and leadership development training programs for review.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, preferred; technical training, associate degree, or equivalent experience in manufacturing, processing, or operations a plus.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing, processing, warehouse, or production environment.
- Previous lead, team lead, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate employees in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Ability to perform production and material handling duties while providing hands-on leadership and support.
- Forklift certification, preferred; or ability to obtain (re)certification within established company timeframes.
- Yard Spotter certification required or ability to obtain certification within established company timeframes.
- Working knowledge of workplace safety regulations, food safety practices, quality standards, and operational procedures.
- Ability to read, interpret, and complete production records, logs, reports, and other operational documentation.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with timekeeping, production reporting, email, and other business software applications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and shift coverage as needed.
