Position:  Process Assistant I (Quarry)


Reports to:  Process Supervisor


Shift:  Rotating Shift


Pay:  $20/hour+

What you’ll be contributing: 


 


Under the direction of the Crusher Supervisor, maintains all crusher/clay/raw storage equipment, buildings, and grounds areas by completing assigned inspections, housekeeping and lubrication schedules for these areas.


 



  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 

  • Assist in clean up, inspecting, repairing and lubricating all Crusher equipment

  • Shovels and sweeps up spills as they occur to maintain plant housekeeping

  • Operates the raw material stackers to build stockpiles

  • Operates skid steer loaders, backhoe, haul and dump trucks, guzzler, air compressors, water truck and other quarry equipment as needed

  • Operates jack hammer as needed to remove product build-up

  • Assist during plant shut downs

  • Assist in clinker storing and reclaiming and maintain equipment used for these jobs

  • Perform pre-shift area and equipment inspections daily for safety, maintenance and housekeeping: correcting problems as needed using best judgment or notifying the Process Control Technician and /or Quarry Supervisor

  • Initiate work orders for repairs and assist with the repairs

  • Relieves the Process Control Technician and Equipment Operators as needed and performs assigned tasks for that position

  • Assists in safety inspections and is aware of safety and environmental, MSHA and EPA requirements

  • Monitor and maintain raw material inventories (Clay and LS/Clay) to ensure the plant has sufficient raw materials for operation

  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor


 


 


To succeed in this position, you will need: 


 



  • High school graduation or equivalent is required

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience preferred

  • Valid Driver's License and the ability to safely operate large vehicles

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.

  • Willingness to learn, training will be provided 

  • Must be a self-starter able to work with little or no supervision

  • Ability to perform all duties in a safe manner

  • Ability to perform minor maintenance

  • Ability to reason through operational issues as they arise and resolve them or communicate with others

  • Knowledge of equipment used in the manufacturing of cement preferred

  • Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibilities

  • Excellent work and safety record

  • Understanding of Lockout/Tagout procedures


 


 


What to expect in a cement environment: 


 


Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Lifing up to 50 pounds. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
