Process Commissioning Lead

We are seeking an experienced Process Commissioning Lead to oversee the end-to-end commissioning of complex process systems within a semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role requires deep expertise in process gas, chemical, and utility systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant system commissioning in alignment with ASHRAE standards and semiconductor industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

    Planning & Documentation (Phase 1 - Pre-Planning):
        • Develop comprehensive commissioning plans for all process systems integrating with facility systems.
        • Review design documents, specifications, and IFC drawings to ensure alignment with project requirements.
        • Create system verification checklists and functional test procedures.
        • Review and refine process Sequence of Operations (SOO).
        • Collaborate with specialty chemical and gas vendors to develop system-specific commissioning protocols.
    Technical Execution (Phases 2-6):
    Factory Witness Testing (Phase 2 - ASHRAE Level 1):
        • Lead process equipment factory acceptance testing (FAT).
        • Verify equipment performance, reliability, and safety features meet specifications.
    Construction & Installation Verification (Phase 3 - ASHRAE Level 2):
        • Oversee installation verification, pressure testing, and utility connections.
        • Validate installation of scrubbers, abatement, and safety systems.
    Operational & Functional Testing (Phases 4-5 - ASHRAE Levels 3-4):
        • Lead functional testing of all process utility systems, including PCW, CDA, PVAC, specialty gas and chemical distribution.
        • Verify system controls, interlocks, and life safety integrations.
        • Perform loop checks, instrument calibration, and valve validation.
        • Coordinate bulk gas and chemical commissioning with suppliers.
    Integrated Systems Testing (Phase 6 - ASHRAE Level 5):
        • Lead Integrated Systems Testing (IST), ensuring full interaction between process systems and facility infrastructure.
        • Validate emergency response scenarios and waste system operations (IWN, HFW, HFC, SAC, SLWS).
        • Oversee system loading scenarios with suppliers.
    Quality Assurance & Documentation:
        • Manage commissioning documentation, track non-conformances, and generate reports.
        • Ensure systems meet environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance.
        • Review and update O&M manuals and create training guides for operations.
    Coordination & Management:
        • Coordinate with vendors (Air Products, Evoqua, Air Liquide, Versum), Applied SMEs, and facility teams.
        • Support cleanroom certification and safety sign-off processes.
        • Lead training sessions for operations personnel on process system operations and troubleshooting.
    Post-Occupancy Support (Phase 7):
        • Oversee system performance during partial occupancy loading.
        • Support analytical testing and early operation troubleshooting.
    • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Skills Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Process, or related Engineering discipline.


• Minimum 5 years of experience in process commissioning within the semiconductor industry.


• Expertise in specialty gas, chemical distribution, and process utility systems.


• Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, safety protocols, and contamination control.


• Experience with cleanroom environments and industrial waste treatment systems.


• Strong understanding of process controls, instrumentation, and safety systems.

Education / Licenses / Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant studies is strongly preferred, but not required.


• OSHA 30 is required; NFPA 70E training and valid certification preferred.


• Commissioning Certification is preferred.
