Job Description - Process Development Engineer (Anneals)

Our start-up is building fundamentally new technology to extend Moore’s Law beyond the limits of Silicon. Our team members have shipped technology used in billions of devices and by hundreds of millions of people. You will be working on a breakthrough technology that will be used in the first computers to go beyond silicon.

The Anneal process development team is a multifunctional team responsible for delivering state of the art annealing solutions in order to meet all needs for R&D as well as technology transfer to customers. As a senior annealing process engineer, you will be responsible for:

Responsibilities:
Work with the company's integration, defect metrology and e-test teams to own the development of annealing processes to support internal 150mm coupon R&D line and 300mm pilot line.
Work with 300mm annealing tool vendors, in conjunction with company's integration, defect metrology and e-test teams, to develop state of the art processes and transfer them to customer foundries.
Work with customer foundries and annealing tool vendors to help drive yield and performance improvements.
Own anneal tools in the company's in-house development coupon line.
Analyze large scale data using JMP to drive process improvements.
Use metrology techniques including but not limited to TEM, SEM, TOFSIMS, EDX, EELS to troubleshoot processes and provide solutions.
Work with metrology vendors to drive metrology improvements for process troubleshooting.
Participate in working group meetings with groups to review data and design new experiments.
Writing patents and publications.
Prepare and present scientific presentations to group and upper management, as well as to customers, investors and advisors.
Participate in equipment procurement activities and associated planning projects.
Participate in equipment installation and qualification projects.

Desired skills and qualifications:
M.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related subject, plus a minimum of 7 years of experience in working on 300mm anneal based process development.
Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related subject, plus a minimum of 4 years of experience in working on 300mm anneal based process development. Ph.D. preferred.
Very good knowledge of the material science and physics of thermal treatment.
Prior experience in various measurement techniques such as XRD, XRR , AFM , RBS, PFM , XRF , EDX , TEM, SEM , Ellipsometry, XPS etc.

The US, California salary will be based on a number of factors including level and will vary depending on knowledge, skills and experience; $113,000 - $200,000
