Process Flow Engineer

Description

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize process flow systems for ingredient processing operations
• Analyze existing production workflows to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies
• Develop technical specifications for equipment and system modifications
• Create and maintain process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
• Implement process control strategies to enhance production efficiency and product quality
• Collaborate with operations, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to resolve process-related issues
• Ensure all processes meet food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, energy consumption, and production costs
• Participate in capital project planning and implementation
• Troubleshoot complex process problems and develop effective solutions
• Train operations staff on new processes and equipment

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Process Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in process engineering, preferably in food or ingredient processing
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and material handling systems
• Proficiency in process simulation software and CAD tools
• Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, FSMA, SQF, BRC, etc.)
• Experience with process automation and control systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong project management abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in related engineering field
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles
• Knowledge of ingredient processing techniques 
• Familiarity with energy optimization in processing facilities

Working Conditions

• Primary work location in production facility environment
• May require periodic travel to other facilities or supplier locations
• Occasional exposure to production areas requiring PPE
• May require working different shifts during project implementations
