Do you want to help state and local governments modernize operations, improve business processes, and implement innovative financial and operational solutions that strengthen public service delivery?
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is recruiting Consultant/Analysts to join GFOA’s Research and Consulting Center (RCC). In this role, you will work directly with state and local governments across the United States and Canada to support consulting engagements, research initiatives, training programs, and other strategic projects that advance excellence in public finance and government operations.
Consultant/Analysts become subject matter experts in enterprise resource planning (ERP) procurement and implementation, risk management, budgeting, and other core competency areas that support GFOA clients. Working in collaborative teams, Consultant/Analysts help local governments analyze business processes, evaluate options, develop recommendations, and implement best practices that improve organizational effectiveness and service delivery.
This position is based in GFOA’s Chicago office with hybrid work-from-home flexibility. Consultant/Analysts travel approximately 7–10 days per month to support client engagements, conferences, trainings, and organizational activities.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to occasionally move about the office or workspace and operate a computer and other office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Compensation
The Consultant/Analyst role includes four levels of progression, with each level having its own salary range based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise. Compensation details will be discussed during the first direct communication with candidates selected for interviews.
