Job Description - Process Improvement Specialist

Position Information:

BreakForth Solutions is seeking a Process Improvement Specialist to join our team of dynamic professionals. This candidate will be responsible for supporting multiple financial and human resource process improvement efforts. This person will be expected to understand and support full process improvement cycles from initiation through implementation using an iterative approach. An advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI is critical to this role. This candidate must have the ability to be on-site in Washington, D.C. as needed (expectation is 2-3 days/week). Essential Functions

Data Collection: Gather and analyze data regarding current processes, workflows, and systems to identify areas for improvement
Process Mapping: Create detailed process maps that visually represent existing processes, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for enhancement
Recommendation Formulation: Develop well-informed recommendations for process improvements based on data analysis, industry best practices, and stakeholder feedback
Improvement Planning: Design comprehensive plans for implementing process improvements, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessments
Implementation: Lead and manage the execution of process improvement initiatives, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and adoption
Monitoring and Evaluation: Continuously monitor the effectiveness of implemented improvements, using metrics and feedback to assess impact and make necessary adjustments
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with federal agency executives and other key stakeholders to gather insights, communicate recommendations, and gain buy-in for process improvement initiatives
Microsoft PowerBI Utilization: Leverage Microsoft PowerBI to analyze data, create reports, and visualize process improvement outcomes, providing clear insights and actionable information to stakeholders

Education/Skills/Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting process improvement efforts in a federal agency
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
Relevant certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP, CFA, CMA are a plus
Advanced experience developing dashboards and reports using Microsoft PowerBI
Advanced knowledge of financial systems and tools, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Active public trust clearance or the ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

Desired Knowledge/Skills

Proven experience in process improvement, including data collection, process mapping, recommendation formulation, and implementation
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable process improvements
Proficiency in creating detailed process maps and using process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TQM)
Demonstrated experience working with federal agency executives and a deep understanding of the federal government environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
Experience with federal agency budgetary practices, preferably the Department of Commerce or its component agencies
Ability to work independently
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to work well in a team environment
