Position Summary

We are seeking dependable, safety-focused Process Operators to join our GREENFIELD EMC/DMC chemical manufacturing operation in Waggaman, Louisiana. This position is responsible for safely operating process equipment, monitoring chemical production systems, maintaining quality standards, and supporting reliable plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate chemical processing and production equipment.
  • Monitor process conditions, instrumentation, alarms, temperatures, pressures, flows, and chemical levels.
  • Perform equipment inspections and identify abnormal operating conditions.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, safety procedures, environmental requirements, and quality standards.
  • Conduct equipment startups, shutdowns, lineups, transfers, and process changes as trained.
  • Collect samples and perform routine process or quality checks.
  • Maintain accurate operating logs, production records, and shift documentation.
  • Respond appropriately to process upsets, equipment problems, and emergency conditions.
  • Perform routine housekeeping and maintain a clean, orderly operating area.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance activities and assist maintenance personnel with equipment  preparation and troubleshooting.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, drills, incident investigations, and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Communicate effectively with other operators, maintenance, laboratory, engineering, supervision, and management.
  • Work effectively as both an independent operator and a member of a high-performing team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, productivity, quality, and operating efficiency.
  • Perform other duties necessary for safe and efficient plant operation.

Safety and Environmental Expectations

Safety is a fundamental condition of employment. 

Operators are expected to:

  • Follow all company safety rules and procedures.
  • Maintain situational awareness around chemicals, process equipment, rotating equipment, pressure systems, and other hazards.
  • Properly use PPE and respiratory protection when required.
  • Follow lockout/tagout, confined-space, hot-work, chemical-handling, and other applicable safety procedures.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, spills, releases, equipment problems, and near misses.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, environmental, and facility requirements.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to working safely and protecting coworkers, the community, and the      environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous chemical plant, refinery, petrochemical, manufacturing, industrial, or process-operations      experience 
  • Ability to successfully complete required operator training and qualification programs.
  • Ability to read and understand operating procedures, safety information, SDSs, process documentation,and equipment instructions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to work safely around hazardous chemicals and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while independently performing assigned duties.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, or computerized process-control systems.
  • Experience with chemical transfer systems, pumps, compressors, reactors, distillation, filtration, utilities, or related process equipment.
  • Previous experience working in a highly regulated industrial environment.
  • Prior experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Military technical training or industrial trade experience may be considered.

Physical Requirements

The position may require:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, and process structures.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined or restricted areas.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying equipment, tools, hoses, and materials within established safety      limits.
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Wearing required PPE, including protective clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection,      and respiratory protection when required.

Work Schedule

Chemical manufacturing operations run continuously. 

Employees may be required to work:

  • 7 on/7 off Rotating Shifts
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Overtime and call-ins when necessary.
  • Extended shifts during maintenance activities, emergencies, or unusual operating conditions.
