The Process Technician is the primary owner for the daily operation of injection molding machines, automation cells, robots, auxiliary equipment, and standard operating processes. Advanced troubleshooting of defects, process inconsistencies, and ability to identify problems between mold, machine, and material provides opportunities to optimize the current process and improve the overall molding process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide production process support to the Plant Manager as the internal processing expert in injection molding
- Startup injection molding machines; size ranges 180T to 1100T
- Startup automation cells including Fanuc robots and assembly equipment
- Uses all machine brands and controllers: Engel, JSW
- Program robots used to pick parts from molding machine and place on conveyors
- Set up auxiliary equipment used in the molding process; temperature control units, heater controllers, material blenders, hot stamp equipment
- Perform advanced plastic process troubleshooting for defects
- Troubleshoot auxiliary equipment and automation cell equipment
- Support Engineering with new mold and machine start ups
- Identify processing inconsistencies and cause mold, machine, or material
- Use IQMS for production schedule planning, downtime, and reject coding
- Conduct Quality Audits to validate quality of finished goods at time of molding
- Audit process parameter log history, identify trends and molding performance concerns, and take appropriate action
- Conduct training of Supervisors and Cell Technicians on shift, improving their process and root cause skills
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in plastic injection molding processes
- Experience with robots and automation desirable
- Experience with Engel, JSW, United Silicone, TCU’s, and utility systems is highly desirable
- Highly responsible and reliable with self-initiative
- Flexible and adaptable to priority changes
- Demonstrates problem solving skills with the focus on root cause analysis
