Job Description - Procurement & Inventory Controller

FMS Aerospace is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Procurement & Inventory Controller to join our Huntsville team. This role is integral to supporting our purchasing operations and ensuring the availability, accuracy, and traceability of materials required across multiple aerospace programs.


 


The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the purchasing department, program managers, and manufacturing teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, support on-time program delivery, and uphold the highest standards of supply chain performance. This position requires strong communication skills, excellent analytical capabilities, and a solid understanding of procurement and inventory control processes.


 


Responsibilities


The Procurement & Inventory Controller will manage activities across the full supply chain lifecycle for assigned products and services—from acquisition through distribution, shipping, delivery, and, when applicable, discontinuation. Key responsibilities include:



  • Coordinating, implementing, and executing inventory management processes in alignment with company strategies and program goals.

  • Monitoring and maintaining accurate inventory levels; processing purchase orders as needed.

  • Tracking purchase orders, troubleshooting discrepancies, and ensuring timely resolution.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of inventory and procurement activity within company databases.

  • Utilizing and updating the approved supplier database, ensuring supplier compliance and performance.

  • Ensuring traceability, documentation accuracy, and conformance of all incoming inventory items.

  • Conducting physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and coordinating stock transfers.

  • Reconciling actual stock levels with system-generated reports to ensure data accuracy.

  • Coordinating availability and allocation of raw materials, components, and finished products.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to support customer service and program needs.

  • Providing support for shipping and receiving customer deliverables.

  • Assisting with the further module implementation of the company’s partially integrated inventory management system (AIM, formerly Flowtrac) within 6–12 months.

  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and streamline procurement and inventory processes.

  • Performing additional inventory, logistics, and procurement‑related tasks as required.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field, with 3–5 years of relevant experience.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.

  • Experience working with suppliers and outsourced vendors.

  • Prior experience with inventory management systems (strongly preferred).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

  • S. citizenship required.

  • Ability to obtain—and maintain— a Department of Defense Secret clearance.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) Security Clearance.

  • Experience with AS9100D compliance.

  • Background in aviation airframe modifications and/or the aerospace industry.

  • Experience with Unanet software.

  • DoD or military experience.
