Job Description - Procurement Manager - T&D/Energy/Substation

Are you a results-driven leader with deep expertise in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Substation industries? As a Procurement Manager, you’ll be at the heart of major infrastructure projects, overseeing people and procurement strategies that fuel innovation and efficiency.

In this role, you will shape supplier relationships, drive competitive bid processes with integrity, and ensure the seamless procurement of critical materials. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams—business development, estimating, and engineering—to craft winning material supply strategies that set projects up for success.

With a strong electrical background and leadership experience, you will guide procurement and expediting teams, optimize contract negotiations, track commodity markets, and maintain global vendor partnerships. Your analytical expertise will be invaluable in forecasting, budgeting, and evaluating purchasing behavior to enhance project performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution (T&D), Substation, or Energy sectors.
  • Strong electrical background is essential.
  • Industry experience in T&D/Energy/Substation —candidates with procurement experience solely in oil/gas will not be considered.
  • Open to individuals who are Assistant Project Managers with 4+ years of experience or Project Managers (PMs) with a robust electrical foundation.
  • Procurement experience is preferred but not required; candidates should demonstrate project management expertise rather than holding procurement-specific titles.
While a procurement title is preferred, candidates with strong project management and electrical backgrounds are encouraged to apply!

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee Procurement and Expeditor team members.
  • Support business development and estimating teams by creating innovative material supply strategies for large infrastructure projects.
  • Lead material bid processes by soliciting pricing from a global supplier network.
  • Negotiate contracts with successful material supply bids.
  • Track commodity markets to identify and mitigate material risks.
  • Establish and maintain strategic vendor relationships worldwide.
  • Monitor project success by tracking forecasted, budgeted, and actual material pricing.
  • Expedite material deliveries by managing manufacturing, shipment, and receipt status.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Required Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) industry.
  • Proven knowledge in construction contract administration, EPC procurement, and business law.
  • Experience with supplier and subcontractor prequalification, Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitation, bid evaluations, contract negotiations, contract generation, vendor submittal management, and expediting oversight on EPC T&D projects.

Preferred Experience & Education:

  • Experience managing a procurement team.
  • Prior experience collaborating with engineering teams and contractors on material specifications and bill of materials reviews.
  • Strong industry relationships with vendors and subcontractors.

Skills:

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently while supporting a team.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive-level management.
  • Strong customer service and time management skills.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel: Yes
  • Percent of Time: Up to 10%

Benefits:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Short- & Long-Term Disability (employer-paid)
  • Group Life & Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance (employer-paid)
  • Prescription Drug Program
  • 401k Match
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Holiday Pay
