JOB DESCRIPTION:

A construction buyer is responsible for acquiring the materials, supplies, and services needed for a construction project. Their role is multifaceted and includes:

• Procurement strategy: Developing a strategy that outlines how to source materials and select suppliers
• Supplier management: Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and building long-term relationships
• Cost management: Budgeting for materials, negotiating competitive prices, and monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project
• Quality assurance: Ensuring the quality of materials and supplies meet project specifications
• Risk management: Assessing and managing risks related to the supply chain
• Compliance: Ensuring that materials and services comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements
• Advice: Providing advice to the project estimator on the predicted cost of individual items
• Cost reports: Preparing and maintaining cost reports to maximize efficiency

This role as a construction buyer is crucial to in ensuring that a construction project remains profitable and that the most cost-effective materials are used. This position will work onsite, not remote, in our production warehouse.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have experience purchasing materials for construction companies.

Education: A degree in business, supply chain management, or work experience equivalent to education.

Experience: Experience in the construction industry

Communication: Excellent communication skills are necessary for working in construction. This includes being able to give and receive instructions, make verbal and written reports, and have work-related discussions.

Organization: Construction workers need to be organized so they can keep track of tools, papers, and reports.

Problem solving: The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations is important.

Interpersonal relationships: The ability to work with various personalities and maintain good relations with management and other staff members is important.

Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Microsoft Office is often required.

Stress: The ability to perform under stress is important.
