Job Description - Produce Repack Floor Foreman



PennRose Farms LLC is a grower-owned, solutions-based supply chain management company that grows, sources, ships, repacks, and distributes fresh fruits and vegetables throughout North America.

The Fresh Produce Repack Floor Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and execution of all repack floor activities within the facility. This position serves as the primary production leader on the floor and is responsible for managing labor, workflow, food safety, product quality, productivity, inventory accountability, and production execution.

Working under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Repack Floor Foreman coordinates employees, materials, equipment, and production priorities to ensure customer orders are packed accurately, safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

This role is expected to be highly visible on the production floor and actively engaged with employees, quality personnel, inventory teams, maintenance personnel, and management throughout the day.

The successful candidate is a hands-on leader who understands fresh produce handling, workforce management, food safety requirements, inventory control principles, and production efficiency.



POSITION PURPOSE

The Repack Floor Foreman owns the daily execution of:

The Foreman is responsible for converting incoming fresh produce into finished customer-ready products through well-controlled, efficient, and compliant repack operations.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Floor Leadership


  • Direct and supervise all repack floor activities.

  • Lead daily production startup meetings.

  • Assign labor based on production schedules and priorities.

  • Ensure staffing levels are aligned with work volume.

  • Monitor labor productivity throughout each shift.

  • Adjust labor assignments as conditions change.

  • Maintain continuous workflow and minimize downtime.

  • Ensure production targets are met safely and efficiently.

  • Communicate production progress to the Facilities Manager throughout the day.




Team Leadership & Workforce Management


  • Lead, coach, train, and develop repack employees.

  • Establish clear performance expectations.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, urgency, teamwork, and professionalism.

  • Ensure employees understand production requirements and quality standards.

  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and work performance.

  • Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.

  • Support employee cross-training initiatives.

  • Identify high-potential employees for advancement opportunities.

  • Address performance concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Assist management with employee evaluations and disciplinary documentation when required.




Production Scheduling & Execution


  • Execute daily production schedules.

  • Prioritize work orders according to customer requirements.

  • Coordinate line changes and production transitions.

  • Verify required materials are available before production begins.

  • Ensure labels, packaging, pallet configurations, and specifications match customer requirements.

  • Monitor production rates and throughput.

  • Report production delays and recommend corrective actions.




Produce Quality Oversight


  • Work closely with Quality Control personnel to ensure products meet customer specifications.

  • Verify acceptable quality before product enters the repack process.

  • Identify quality issues before they affect production output.

  • Monitor product condition throughout the production process.

  • Ensure damaged, defective, or off-spec products are properly segregated.

  • Assist in repack disposition decisions and quality investigations.

  • Promote proper handling practices to minimize bruising, shrink, and damage.




Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance


  • Enforce all food safety programs and operational procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • GMPs

    • GAPs

    • HACCP-based programs

    • FSMA requirements

    • Customer food safety standards

    • Company policies



  • Verify proper employee hygiene practices.

  • Monitor allergen controls when applicable.

  • Ensure production records are completed accurately.

  • Support audit readiness activities.

  • Immediately report food safety risks or compliance concerns.




Inventory & Materials Control


  • Ensure accurate consumption of raw materials.

  • Verify proper lot tracking and traceability throughout production.

  • Monitor packaging inventory usage.

  • Ensure production materials are handled properly and protected from damage.

  • Coordinate with inventory control personnel regarding shortages or discrepancies.

  • Minimize inventory losses through proper handling and accountability.




Yield, Waste & Cost Control


  • Monitor repack yields by commodity and production run.

  • Identify causes of excessive shrink or product loss.

  • Ensure proper defect removal practices.

  • Track labor efficiency and production performance.

  • Assist management with waste reduction initiatives.

  • Recommend process improvements that improve productivity and profitability.




Equipment & Facility Care


  • Perform daily inspections of production equipment.

  • Verify equipment is operating safely and efficiently.

  • Notify maintenance personnel of mechanical issues.

  • Ensure employees utilize equipment safely.

  • Assist with preventative maintenance scheduling when required.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.




Safety Leadership


  • Promote a safety-first culture.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

  • Conduct routine production area safety inspections.

  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.

  • Ensure proper use of PPE.

  • Report accidents, injuries, near misses, and safety concerns immediately.

  • Participate in safety meetings and training programs.




Communication & Coordination


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for floor-level production execution.

  • Coordinate daily activities with:

    • Facilities Manager

    • Inventory Control

    • Quality Control

    • Shipping

    • Receiving

    • Maintenance

    • Procurement

    • Logistics



  • Provide timely updates regarding:

    • Production progress

    • Labor requirements

    • Quality issues

    • Inventory shortages

    • Equipment concerns

    • Production delays



  • Maintain production communication boards and shift reports.




REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS


  • Strong fresh produce handling knowledge.

  • Working knowledge of produce quality standards.

  • Understanding of USDA grading concepts.

  • Understanding of FIFO and inventory rotation practices.

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation programs.

  • Strong workforce management abilities.

  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Basic mathematical and production reporting skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience with Famous Software or other ERP/WMS systems preferred.




EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in operations, repack operations, production supervision, warehouse operations, or food manufacturing.

  • Minimum 1 year of leadership, lead person, or supervisory experience.

  • Valid driver's license.


Preferred


  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

  • HACCP certification.

  • Quality Control experience.

  • Warehouse Management System experience.

  • OSHA safety training.

  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
