Produce Specialist - Full Time

Summary

Mackenthun's Produce Specialists are responsible for performing Produce duties according to department standards and processes.

Mackenthun’s Produce Specialists must be able to promote Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by assisting customers, answering customer questions about Mackenthun's, Mackenthun's Produce, and Produce products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Produce Specialists are expected to provide excellent customer service.

Process produce for display (i.e. clean, cut, cull).

Merchandise product, stock produce, rotate product for freshness.

Build/maintain/disassemble displays.

Participate in selling events.

Unloading trucks, putting away products, rotating and organizing the cooler.

Other Duties

Responsible for safe food handling.

Keeping an organized work area.

Assist the Produce Manager with ordering the product, as needed.

Emptying department trash, compost and recycling.

Assist with making fruit baskets.

Cleaning and scrubbing the back room cooler and floors.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years old.

Minimum High School Diploma or GED preferred but not necessary.

Must be able to clearly speak, read and write the English language.

Must have basic math skills.

Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Attention to detail.

Be a positive and creative trend-setter with excellent customer service skills, problem solving and decision making skills.

Must be honest and dependable, able to work independently and as a team member.

Minimize department losses due to improper product handling, storage, damage and spoils. Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources and image.

Must have an interest in selling food and a desire to learn the characteristics and qualities of the products and services Mackenthun's has to offer, in particular Mackenthun’s Signature items.

Physical Demands

Constant standing/walking/talking/hearing/seeing/ready to respond to department needs at any time during work shift.

Frequent repetitive motions, bending at the waist, reaching arm's length/above shoulders/below waist, crouching, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs plus lifting and/or pulling/pushing 50 lbs.

Position requires close/distance/peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision.

Equipment Used

Baler, Compactor, Heavy Lifting, Knives, Ladder, Lift Truck, Pallet Jack, Sinks, Walk-in Coolers, Walk-in Freezer, Wrapper/Sealer. (Age restrictions apply.)

Work Environment

Work performed in a variety of environments including refrigerated and wet conditions, indoors, outdoors, individually or in teams. Smoke-free facility.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
