The Opportunity
We're seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Associate or a Mid-Level Patent Agent to join one of our esteemed clients in their Product Design & User Interface Patent Prosecution Practice Group. This position is open to all firm office locations, with a preference for Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, DC, Houston, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix, or St. Louis. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge patent preparation and prosecution for advanced technologies.

What You'll Do

• Draft and Prosecute Patents: Prepare and prosecute patents related to software, artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, quantum technologies, and other advanced fields.
• Collaborate with Innovators: Work closely with inventors and clients to transform innovative ideas into robust intellectual property assets.
• Analyze and Research: Conduct in-depth technical research to support patent preparation and prosecution efforts.
• Develop Expertise: Build your knowledge and skill set in rapidly evolving technology areas while supporting a nationally recognized intellectual property team.

What You Bring to the Table

• Experience:
  • For Associates: At least 2 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • For Patent Agents: At least 2 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Education:
  • Associate Candidates: J.D. and admission to the USPTO required.
  • Patent Agent Candidates: Bachelors degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field; USPTO admission required.
• Preferred Experience: Familiarity with:
  • Software-related technologies.
  • Artificial intelligence and related technologies.
  • IoT, networking, and related technologies.
  • Quantum technologies.
• Skills: Exceptional writing, research, and communication abilities.

• Technical Expertise: Strong background in patent preparation and prosecution for advanced technologies.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to navigate complex technical and legal issues to deliver robust IP solutions.
• Client Collaboration: Proven success in working directly with inventors and clients to deliver high-quality patent applications.
• Team Collaboration: Effective communicator and team player in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • For Associates: Competitive salary ranging from $240,000 to $290,000, depending on experience.
  • For Patent Agents: Competitive salary ranging from $110,000 to $190,000, depending on experience.
