The Role:
We’re looking for a Product Development/Production coordinator who will demonstrate their expertise and knowledge in apparel concepts, practices. In this role, you will support the product development and production team in establishing and facilitating our manufacturing workflow with overseas vendors, be a liaison between design and our vendors/ license partners on product approvals, and deliver a finished product that will delight our customers.
This is a multi-faceted role with responsibilities that span across production and product development. You will interact daily with design, merchandising, production, and vendors to ensure that garments are priced and manufactured to meet design aesthetics and company product strategies. What you'll do:
- Support the PD/Production Managers in maintaining accurate WIP reports for each vendor; review, track and uphold key development and production dates.
- Work closely with design, production, and merchandising to manage the flow of information related to purchase orders, costing, samples, and orders with vendor partners.
- Own product submissions and approval status tracker with licensing partners and systems – OPA, Media Box, etc
- Attend seasonal concept/trend meetings to understand design intention and product strategies.
- Support the production manager in managing and executing the production work flow.
- Assist in the sourcing and development of all new fabric and trims to support finished goods production.
- Manage proto samples, wear tests, and marketing samples and photoshoot samples to ensure timely deliveries.
- Track testing reports, care, and content labeling.
- Assist the team in organizing and inputting product data in the PLM system
- Maintain material and sample tracking in the PLM system
- Monitor and track vendor sample submissions
- Prepare sample submissions for review across Product Development, Production and Design teams
- Maintain strong organization of the sample closet
What you'll bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in production, merchandising/design, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of product development and or production experience in the apparel industry, children’s apparel preferred; 3+ years working with overseas vendors highly desired
- An understanding of technical requirements related to testing of fabric, trims, and garments preferred.
- Knowledge of product development and production from sourcing, design development and testing protocols, production integrity, production times, and fabric and garment construction.
- Strong attention to detail, and organization with the ability to prioritize multiple projects with the ability to handle several tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and take initiative when required.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other teams and individuals.
- A ‘no task is too small’ attitude willing to jump in as needed to support the team.
