Product Development Manager-Composites (SMC) - Urgent Position

We are seeking a Product Development Manager who will support composite material development in Asia and North America. This role is responsible for leading research teams in Korea to develop novel composite materials, coordinate relationships with material suppliers, and support Business Development teams in Asia and North America. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in thermoset and thermoplastic composites, especially SMC formulation, as well as the capability to support new business as a technical expert.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of thermoset and thermoplastic composites, including FR materials, UV stable materials, and Low Density materials.
• Be a technical expert in Unsaturated Polyester, Epoxy, Vinyl Ester, Phenolic, and Polypropylene resin composite formulation
• Develop and maintain relationships with multiple material suppliers and development partners
• Travel to Korea a minimum of 3 times a year to work with development teams for up to 2 years
• Willing to regularly work off-hours to virtually connect with international teams
• Identify emerging technologies and future collaboration partners, attend conferences as necessary
• Understand applications and material specifications in Automotive, Oil/Gas, Infrastructure, and New Energy Markets
• Support Business Development units by developing new materials and interfacing with customers as needed
• Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in related major (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, etc.)
• 5+ years of related experiences
• Extensive hands-on research and scale-up experience
• Demonstrated success in development and commercialization of composite materials
• Strong presentation and leadership skills, capable of engaging audiences of diverse backgrounds and sizes
• Reside or willing to relocate to office location (Detroit, MI)
