In this position...
- Contribute directly to bringing future vehicles to market by ensuring they meet critical environmental and safety regulations through hands-on testing and maintenance
- Work on cutting-edge prototype vehicles across various powertrain types, applying your technical skills in diagnostics, repair, and electronic system management
- Manage essential logistics, maintenance, and documentation for critical vehicle test programs, supporting the path to regulatory compliance
What you'll do...
- Remove, disassemble, reassemble and replace vehicle mechanical systems using approved service procedures. Tag, store, and maintain inventory of take off parts.
- Diagnose electronic and mechanical system malfunctions on pre-production development and certification vehicles, providing technical assistance to engineering personnel.
- Reprogram vehicle electronic control modules.
- Document all work performed in accordance with approved procedures.
- Coordinate and schedule vehicle program mileage accumulation on the test track and dyno.
- Perform vehicle maintenance (gasoline, diesel, FFV, HEV, BEV) of test vehicles at schedule intervals and maintain records.
- Maintain certification oil and fuels inventory.
- Coordinate shipment of test vehicles between MPG, Allen Park, and other locations. Ensure camouflage and confidential shipping guidelines are followed.
- Daily update report of test vehicles mileage status.
- Run R917 (shake & bake procedure) & R919 (standard road cycle).
- Communicate with various requestors to report vehicle status and obtain needed information.
You'll have...
- High School Degree
- 4+ years of experience in a similar environment
- High attention to keeping accurate records and information integrity.
- Experience with emissions test vehicles.
- Knowledgeable in emission control system operation on modern gasoline and diesel engines
- Knowledgeable in exhaust and evaporative emission test procedures
- Ability to reprogram vehicle electronic control modules, pull bus queries, check High Voltage PID (PT Diag, DET, intrepid, mycanic)
- Skilled in handling toxic and hazardous fuels, oils, coolants and other materials.
