Job Description - Product Management Team Lead

Job Summary:


We are seeking a Product Management Team Lead to manage our product function across our LED lighting portfolio. This role owns the end-to-end category strategy driving profitable growth through assortment planning, supplier partnerships, pricing strategy, and ecommerce execution.


The Leader will manage and mentor a team of Product Managers, set category-level priorities, and serve as the strategic owner of product performance across the business. The ideal candidate blends market insight, lighting industry expertise, analytic and data-driven decision-making, supplier negotiation expertise, and people leadership, while collaborating closely with procurement, marketing, operations, and executive leadership.



Responsibilities:



  • Product & Category Management

    • Own category strategy and  P&L performance across core lighting segments (e.g., commercial products, strips/tape, drivers/power supplies, vehicle, accessories etc) including: Revenue growth, Gross margin, Inventory turns, Days supply, In-stock rate, and OOS risk

    • Ensure disciplined analytics evaluation of: New product launches, Non-Performing Inventory (NPI) SKUs, Return trends and root causes

    • Lead new product identification and introduction based on category fit, projected revenue, technical fit, margin targets, and strong content readiness.

    • Establish category and SKU good / better / best pricing to balance feature / price, competitiveness, margin, and inventory risk.

    • Manage product lifecycle through end-of-life planning, replacement mapping, and smooth transitions (critical in lighting where model churn is common)  



  • Team Leadership & Development





    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Product Managers.







    • Set clear goals, KPIs, and accountability for category performance.

    • Establish best practices for product discovery, launch execution, lifecycle management, and sunsetting.

    • Act as the escalation point for supplier, pricing, and inventory decisions.





  • Supplier & Sourcing Strategy





    • Evaluate and onboard new suppliers

    • Negotiate pricing, terms, MOQs, and lead times

    • Oversee product quality standards, inspections, certifications, and compliance.

    • Guide initial order quantities and replenishment strategies using demand forecasting and analytics.





  • E-Commerce & Merchandising

    • Set standards for product content quality to ensure consistent, high-quality customer experiences across product pages, filters (e.g., IP Rating, wattage, CRI), product specifications (e.g., lumens / watt), and accessories /  bundles.

    • Align with test lab and content teams on compatibility guidance (e.g., dimming, power supplies, connectors etc) and applications / buying guides to assist customers.

    • Partner with Marketing to align product launches, promotions, SEO strategy, and campaigns.

    • Collaborate with development on site features to improve conversion, basket building, and average order value. 





Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain, or related field 

  • 8–12+ years of experience in product management, category management, or ecommerce merchandising

  • Exceptional analytic skills and comfort with data analysis drawing actionable conclusions.

  • Proven people leadership experience managing product or category managers and working cross functionally.

  • Strong background in ecommerce, B2B/B2C distribution, or technical products


Preferred



  • Lighting industry experience (manufacturer, distributor, retailer) or highly technical category background

  • Familiarity with spec-driven ecommerce merchandising and content governance

  • Experience with assortment rationalization, bundling, and compatibility frameworks



  • NetSuite, ecommerce platform, or web merchandising experience a plus
