Job Description - Product Manager

As a Product Manager at Smartleaf, you'll make a huge difference both internally and externally. Our user base of financial advisors and centralized portfolio managers cares deeply about helping their clients achieve their life goals. You'll be able to help them by designing workflows that get the job done and enable them to focus on building relationships with the end clients. Our users are detail-oriented and precise; you'll need good organization, a head for numbers, and an ability to balance competing concerns and come up with useful compromises. You'll also need to learn domain knowledge quickly.

You'll play a key role in prioritization by keeping the backlog organized, identifying common needs and working with the application development team to assess implementation challenges. You'll work with our client services team to distill client feedback into actionable needs and priorities. To do that, you'll need the ability to listen empathetically and ask questions that go beyond documenting requests and drill down to the underlying needs. You'll take the information you've gathered and work with internal domain experts to build a consistent and effective client experience.

Our development team will rely on you to help them understand the business needs. This will require an ability to communicate complex requirements clearly and concisely and illustrate those requirements with practical examples. You'll help keep things moving by adjusting scope and clarifying requirements during the development process. Finally, you'll collect and analyze usage data and interview users to assess the success of new features.

Smartleaf’s subsidiary, Smartleaf Asset Management (SAM), is a recently launched, rapidly growing, registered investment advisory service that lets financial advisors hand off the responsibility of trading portfolios to our SAM team. Our assets under management for SAM have grown exponentially from $100M in 2020 to over $2.6B today.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Smartleaf Product Manager, you will:
Own key client initiatives and develop data-driven product strategies and roadmaps.
Work closely with the Software Development team to ensure clear communication of the product strategy from feature specification to implementation.
Collaborate with the Client Services team to support new implementations, communicate product updates, and learn from client support requests.
Engage with clients to gather feedback, understand their needs, and incorporate their input into product priorities and enhancements.
Analyze customer requirements among differing markets and maintain a pulse on current market trends and competitive offerings.
Build product management processes from the ground up that will scale as the team and client base grows.

Who You Are:
You have 3-5 years of experience in product management. Prior experience in Financial Services or FinTech is a plus.
You are an excellent communicator, and can communicate things like product strategies and updates across the company and to key clients.
You have a passion for turning complex problems into simple and engaging experiences.
You’re curious to explore data, both qualitative and quantitative, to help the team make strategic decisions. Experience with data visualization or tools such as SQL or Superset is a plus.
You are a team player and can collaborate with the Software Development and Client Support teams in alignment with product strategy.
You are seeking career growth, including opportunities such as owning the launch of a new feature.
You are a self starter and have initiative to take on problems and projects.

Work Style:
If you are remote...
All team meetings are by video conference (core team hours 10am to 4pm EST)
The team communicates throughout the day via messaging stream (akin to Slack), Google Meet, and Zoom
At present, some team members have chosen to be in the office a few days a week while the majority are currently remote
