Title: Product Science Specialist

Position Overview
The Product Science Specialist plays a key supporting role in the research, development, and communication of dietary supplement formulations. This position bridges science and marketing by conducting raw material research, supporting formulation development, drafting scientific substantiation, and creating engaging content for consumer-facing platforms. While not the final sign-off authority, the specialist works closely with senior scientific staff (e.g., PhDs or regulatory experts) to ensure all outputs are accurate, compliant, and strategically aligned.

Key Responsibilities

• Scientific and Formulation Support:
  
  
  
  • Research new and emerging ingredients for efficacy, safety, dosage, and regulatory status
  
  
  • Support formulation team by recommending ingredient combinations and reviewing supplier specs and white papers
  
  
  • Assist in reviewing competitor formulas and identifying whitespace opportunities
  
  
  • Organize and maintain a knowledge base of clinical studies relevant to product categories and claims
  
  
  
  


• Substantiation and Documentation:
  
  
  
  • Draft scientific substantiation to support product claims (structure/function, general wellness, etc.)
  
  
  • Compile literature reviews and reference packages for internal review and regulatory submissions
  
  
  • Work with PhD-level staff or outside consultants to finalize and approve scientific rationale
  
  
  • Work with Quality, Regulatory and Operations to complete safety and stability studies and generate product specifications to ensure products are produced in compliance with consumer and regulatory requirements
  
  
  
  


• Consumer Content Development:
  
  
  
  • Translate complex scientific information into engaging, accurate, and compliant content for blogs, social media, and educational materials
  
  
  • Collaborate with brand and marketing teams to align messaging with product positioning
  
  
  • Support creation of product education tools (FAQs, talking points, training materials, etc.)
  
  
  
  


• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  
  
  
  • Coordinate with Regulatory, Marketing, Legal, and Product Development teams to ensure consistency across scientific messaging and claims
  
  
  • Participate in brainstorming and innovation meetings to contribute scientific insights
  
  
  
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Biology, Biochemistry, Health Sciences, or related field


• 1-3 years similar role in dietary supplement, functional food, or health and wellness industry


• Familiarity with clinical research interpretation and FDA/DSHEA guidelines for supplement claims


• Strong writing skills for both technical and consumer-facing content


• Ability to manage multiple projects, work cross-functionally, and adapt in fast-paced environment


• Experience with medical databases (PubMed, Natural Medicines, etc.)


• Basic understanding of cGMPs, supplement labeling, and ingredient sourcing


• Creative flair for turning science into stories that resonate with health-conscious consumers


• Exposure to working with influencers, copywriters, or marketing teams a plus
