Production Design Coordinator

The Barrington Stage Company Education department seeks a qualified, experienced and imaginative individual to serve as Production Design Coordinator for the Devised Theatre Ensemble. Reporting to the Director of Education, and the Devised Theatre Ensemble Director, the Production Design Coordinator is responsible for working with the director and students to design and construct the set and costumes for the Devised Theatre Ensemble’s production of Jack & the Beanstalk. The Devised Theatre Ensemble Most of the scenic and costume design is done with materials already in BSC’s stock of scenery and costumes. 

The ideal candidate should have experience working in costume and set design, and experience or a strong interest in working as an educator. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both coworkers and students is required. The design process involves meeting the needs of the students and show before bringing the
Production Design Coordinator’s own artistic vision to the production, all with a very limited budget. The candidate must also be a team player with a strong anti-discrimination commitment, and be a strategic, flexible, and curious thinker.

ROLES + RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule, Dates are June 30- July 27 full time local (completed set and costumes delivered July 21) with production meetings in advance, and some training / orientation days  


• Design (along with students and directors) and construct a set that fits in the Boland Theater at Berkshire Community College


• Design and pull costumes for the show and teach students how to organize and store them properly


• Work with student production assistants on their scenic construction in the shop at Berkshire Community College


• Attendance and participation in regular production meetings and rehearsals
  
  

Stipend is $3500, we are looking for a local hire.
