Job Details:

Safe Life Defense is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead our Material Processing Department, overseeing the cutting and preparation of all raw materials used in body armor manufacturing. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality output, efficient workflows, and seamless coordination with downstream production teams. The ideal candidate has a strong background in material processing, quality control, and consistently meeting production goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee all material cutting operations, including multi-ply cutters, laser cutters, and automated hot knife systems.


• Ensure maximum throughput, accuracy, and quality in all cutting processes.


• Manage and support a team of machine operators and material handlers—providing hands-on training, clear direction, and accountability.


• Maintain high quality control standards, especially for ballistic panel cutting, ensuring every piece meets specifications. 


• Coordinate closely with department leads to align cutting priorities with daily production capacity.


• Monitor and maintain cutting equipment, scheduling preventative maintenance and addressing issues proactively.


• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, boost speed, and improve operator experience.


• Ensure materials are properly staged, labeled, and transferred post-cutting for seamless handoff to assembly lines.


• Help create a clean, safe, and efficient working environment with a strong sense of ownership and pride among the team.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in material processing or manufacturing operations.


•  Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.


•  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.


• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
