Production Manager

Position Title: Production Manager

Status: Full-time - Exempt

Reports To: Director of Operations                                                    

Job Summary

The Production Manager position is responsible for planning and executing day to day operations to facilitate successful setting and hatching.  This position is responsible for ensuring proper procedures and personnel are in place across the Production functions to ensure efficient and profitable operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitors hatchery safety and sanitation of incubators, hatchers, and other equipment


• Coordinate with Maintenance Manager to ensure all maintenance needs of the hatchery are completed


• Directs and coordinates Production activities (e.g., hatching, sorting, vaccinating, and shipping)


• Communicate with Transfer Lead to ensure Transfer crew has all information needed for transfer (Proper Incubator to transfer out of and which Hatchers to transfer into, proper vaccine schedules are followed)


• Communicates with Hatchery Supply Coordinator and Hatchery Supply Lead to ensure egg room crew has set sheets and timelines for completion


• Oversees egg settings and transfer of eggs to Hatchers including set times and machine operation


• Ensures overall cleanliness of Hatchery


• Ensures chick processing flows smoothly and timely


• Works closely with Order Fulfillment Manager to ensure orders are processed in a timely manner


• Works closely with Director of Operations to monitor expenditures to work within established budgets and develop yearly capital expenditure proposals


• Responsible for prioritization, implementation, and accountability of process improvements in Production


• Reports InOvo/Embrex numbers to Poultry Account Specialist at Zoetis


• Performs machine readings as scheduled


• Ensures fumigation is performed for Hatchers and Hatchery


• Fills in for Order Fulfillment Manager when out to ensure all duties are fulfilled

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred


• Three to five years management experience required


• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) proficiency


• Zoom videoconference capability


• Must be able to maintain quality control standards


• Knowledge of reading and writing the English language


• Ability to count and record numbers accurately


• Must be able to push heavy equipment


• Must be willing to handle live poultry

Travel Requirements

• Some travel may be required, up to 10%

• Work is performed in a consistently changing environment – hot and humid to air-conditioned rooms


• Work is performed indoors and outdoors


• Requires the ability to tolerate unpleasant odors associated with eggs and poultry of various quality


• Normal corrective vision range, ability to see color and distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols


• Frequently required to sit, walk, talk, hear, bend, and reach


• Requires full range of body motion including handling, lifting, and moving heavy boxes and equipment


• This position may require heavy lifting, over 50 lbs
