Position Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for the overall operation, performance, and leadership of the cannabis manufacturing facility. This role serves as the primary leader of the production team and is accountable for meeting production schedules, maintaining compliance standards, managing staff, and ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and on time.

The Production Manager oversees daily manufacturing operations, production planning, labor management, inventory coordination, quality standards, and facility performance. This position is responsible for driving productivity while maintaining a strong focus on regulatory compliance, product quality, employee development, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Production Operations

• Oversee all daily production and manufacturing activities within the facility.


• Ensure production schedules are completed accurately and on time.


• Coordinate production priorities to meet company demand and inventory objectives.


• Monitor workflow and staffing levels to maximize efficiency and productivity.


• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve output.


• Ensure all production records are completed accurately and maintained appropriately.


• Maintain accountability for production goals, deadlines, and performance metrics.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable all production personnel.


• Manage employee schedules and staffing levels based on production needs.


• Conduct performance reviews, coaching conversations, and corrective actions as needed.


• Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development.


• Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented workplace culture.


• Establish clear expectations and performance standards for team members.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with all applicable cannabis regulations, company policies, and manufacturing procedures.


• Maintain audit-ready production records and documentation.


• Partner with Compliance and Quality teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies.


• Ensure all products meet established quality and safety standards.


• Support facility inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.


• Promote adherence to sanitation, safety, and security requirements.

Inventory & Materials Management

• Coordinate with Inventory and Purchasing teams to maintain adequate production supplies.


• Monitor raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods inventory levels.


• Ensure accurate tracking and reconciliation of inventory throughout the production process.


• Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve material utilization.

Facility Operations

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production environment.


• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operational.


• Partner with maintenance personnel to address equipment and facility issues.


• Promote workplace safety and compliance with all safety procedures.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 3 years of leadership or management experience.


• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing, production, operations, or related experience.


• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.


• Experience managing production schedules and operational deadlines.


• Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.


• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production tracking systems.

Preferred

• Cannabis manufacturing experience.


• Experience in highly regulated industries.


• Experience with inventory management and production planning.


• Knowledge of METRC or other seed-to-sale tracking systems.


• Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.

The Production Manager is responsible for the successful execution of all manufacturing operations and serves as the operational leader of the facility, ensuring production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, compliantly, and on schedule.
