Job Description - Production Planner/Scheduler

HTI is recruiting for an experienced Production Planner/Scheduler for a client company in Augusta, GA. This is a full-time, onsite, salaried position. The company offers full benefits and relocation assistance. The salary depends on experience and education, and the range is $75,000 - $85,000 / year.

Job Summary:
As a Production Planner, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the execution of production plans, monitoring production process to identify and address any issues that arise, resolving issues, and adjusting production schedules as needed to ensure proper analytical quality of feed mix and efficient resources are available on-site. This includes actively steering inventories, improving service levels, reducing costs, and identifying operational growth opportunities by monitoring assigned responsibilities of production planning. The position's focus is on optimizing the production process to meet demand while minimizing costs and ensuring quality and safety. The Production Planner plays a critical role in coordinating the production planning schedule with the different departments to ensure that the production process is running smoothly, and that the organization can meet its business objectives. This position reports to the Production Planning Manager.

Job duties:
Responsible for coordinating and maintaining production schedule to ensure efficient utilization of all raw materials for optimization of all production output systems.
Responsible for working closely with the Inventory Analyst and other departments to ensure the necessary quantity of raw materials and production components is available for production schedules.
Monitor and steer production capacity by identifying bottlenecks and constraints within production.
Monitor production output and adjust production plans as needed to meet changing demand or production requirements.
Coordinate with commercial team (buyer and sales) regarding material availability, lead times, production capacity, and production output demand.
Communication with different stakeholders regarding relevant production activities on site that might affect production. Ensure that production schedules are communicated effectively to the production team, commercial team (buyer and sales), and group production planning.
Responsible for creating, tracking and reporting of KPIs associated with onsite operations: inventory levels, supplier availability, mandating, forecasting, budgeting etc.
Establish corrective actions for underperforming metrics to ensure performance standards are met.
Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and provide regular reports to management; assist with creation and management of a dashboard and/or other analytical tools to enable accurate analysis.
Responsible for keeping all production planning up-to-date and adjusting in case of changes.
Assist with the obtaining of chemical analysis of offered possible raw materials in a laboratory to clarify the possible use and consumption in the production, but also to prevent unwanted impurities and contamination.
Work in partnership with Quality Team, Sample Preparation & Laboratory and Logistics to optimize material and process flows, etc.
Key-User for Production Planning software which will include software implementations.
Must successfully communicate and interact with international and domestic employees of all levels, as well as suppliers and customers to identify, research, analyze and resolve issues.
Ensures professional claim management.
Provide support in several areas, including issue resolution, financial performance, adherence to contract terms and solution design and pricing, as needed.
Participate in or lead specialty projects as needed.
Attend regular department safety meeting; ensure safety and order in one's own work environment.
Prioritize continuous improvement projects and coordinate the execution schedule with Production Planning Team.
Structure, coordinate, monitor, optimize, and document work processes.
Prepare specifications for projects in assigned areas of responsibility.
Ability to understand, implement and analyze SPC (Statistical Process Control) practices, to add validation to all aspects of the operations on an ongoing basis in addition to providing recommendations on aspects of the department's strengths, weaknesses and needs.
Continuous analysis of current Production Planning Team processes and procedures, proposals for improvements, implementation, and follow-through of agreed-upon changes.
Support the establishment and execution of the budgeting process for the Production Planning Team, including volumes, materials, and cost centers.

Requirements: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Management, or similar field is preferred
Must have 3+ years of manufacturing industry experience as a Production Planner or Inventory Controller
Must have intermediate to advanced experience with SAP and Microsoft Office (especially Excel for data tracking and analysis)
Preferred systems experience includes inventory control, product flow, data/statistical analysis, KPI tracking/reporting, and dashboard creation/management
Experience with MES or similar WMS (inventory/warehouse management) systems
Must have professional communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to present to management and other stakeholders during meetings
Must thrive in a fast-paced environment in which team members must be strategic yet tactical.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
