Production Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

2nd Shift Supervisor - 4 x 10 hours Monday - Thursday

Responsible for the direct/indirect supervision and training of the manufacturing staff on assigned shift.  Assures production and maintenance schedules are met, works with employees and union representatives in maintaining good labor relations.  During off shifts and weekends in the absence of higher supervision, is in charge of the plant

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Directly/indirectly supervises all manufacturing staff; maintenance, janitorial and production on assigned shift.
2. Resolves conflict within shifts as necessary and takes emergency action as required.
3. In the absence of higher supervision, for example, on weekends and second and third shifts, act as senior management person on the plant.
4. Trains employees in hazard recognition and safe work practices.
5. Trains production employees in machine operation and procedures.
6. Responsible to ensure on-going improvement in internal and external quality levels.
7. Recognizes and takes proactive role in correcting or changing conditions to ensure a safe work environment.
8. Coordinates improvements to work areas to improve productivity, enhance quality levels, reduce scrap, and minimize work-in-progress within established guidelines.
9. Maintain good labor relations with employees and union representatives in accordance with contract plant rules and regulations.
10. Reviews and submits time charges and labor allocations.
11. Supports and participates in cross-functional team activities.
12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline and five (5) years progressively responsible high volume manufacturing experience in a union environment (welding, machining, scheduling, directing the maintenance activity for manufacturing equipment and facilities).

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work will take place in a combination office/shop environment.  Employee may be required to work weekends, holidays, and be on-call on occasion.  While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to mechanical or chemical processes requiring the use of personnel protective equipment.
