Job Description Summary
The Production Supervisor at the Greenville, IL Plant will oversee the day-to-day-production, planning, testing, and implementation of Company methods, processes/policies and operations for new and existing products. Ensure the effective use of materials, equipment and personnel in producing quality products while minimizing costs. Develops systems to maintain reports and keep records of company products. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the area of responsibility. Ensure all employees are properly trained and qualified to perform their assignments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Engage and direct employees to ensure departmental/plant goals and objectives are met. Determine priorities, set up schedules, assign employees to scheduled jobs, and ensure compliance with SOP’s, cGMPs, company policies, work rules, and safety procedures. Responsible for work outputs of area employees. Utilizes shop floor metrics/visual factory to engage employees. Ensure availability of materials, equipment, and paperwork. Strong knowledge of Good Document Practices to review/audit required documents and ensure accurate completion of all paperwork. Improve the overall department efficiency and processes by implementing improvement projects. Deliver training to new and current employees as required and update training records. Monitor attendance and performance of subordinates. Coach and counsel employees through two-way engagement. Take Corrective action when appropriate. Investigate abnormalities and implement corrective and preventive actions for these abnormalities. Report to functional leader on departmental issues, activities, and accomplishments. Attend, participate, and conduct meetings as required. Including cross-functional meetings when needed. Perform safety audits. Drive safety/quality improvement ideas and performance. Participate on Safety/Quality Teams. Assists in the prevention of accidents and injuries by conducting regularly scheduled safety meetings. Conducts Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining. Create incident, accident, and counseling reports. Establish and maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with Company/Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Ensure that resolving employee conflicts remains a priority; ensure that disputes and safety/performance issues are addressed and that the appropriate documentation is retained for the employees’ personnel file. Ensure that all employees comply with physicals, drug or alcohol testing and training required by regulatory agencies. Troubleshoot problems with equipment and enter work requests for Maintenance when applicable. Issue all permits needed to ensure work can be done safely (pipe breaking, confined space, lock/tag out, hot work, tank entry, etc.). Partner with functional leaders to drive improvement in production quality and yields. Manage the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in a consistent manner. Must be willing to take on rotational assignments for development/growth opportunities. Perform other tasks as directed by management Work rotating shifts.

Perform the functions of arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure; compute ratio, rate and percent; calculate variables and formulas.
Ability to apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and to deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and plant support systems.
Experience and training in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or similar programs.
Experience in driving efficiency improvements and cost savings in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Willingness to obtain required bachelor's degree.
Skills/Competencies:
Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and various database software.
Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
Basic supervisory skills.
Demonstrate initiative and ability to perform as part of a team.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical processes and equipment.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
This position reports to the Production Superintendent. Incumbent works independently and provides a high level of initiative and creativity to general duties. Supervision and direction of reports required. No instructions needed on routine work and only general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments.
Incumbent may have occasional contact with personnel external to the organizational site. Primary communications are with direct manager, peers, and subordinates, may involve written or oral communication, including obtaining or providing information on matters of moderate to significant importance to the organization, and may be of a sensitive nature. There is responsibility for this position to lead, train, and oversee other supervisors performing similar functions.
PHYSICAL/VISUAL ACTIVITIES OR DEMANDS:
Approximately 30% of time will be spent in the office, 70% of time on the floor with potential exposure to noise and dust. May be required to exert a negligible amount of force continuously and up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. The job involves sitting, walking, and standing, reaching, talking and hearing. The job involves clarity of vision at 20 inches or less with the ability to bring objects into sharp focus. May need the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. May have exposure to chemicals including acids, bases, organic solvents and inorganic compounds. Chemicals may have characteristic odors or hazardous properties that require special handling. May require wearing a respirator or dust mask.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
24/7 pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with multiple shifts. Requires use of PPE.
