Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will oversee and manage production employees and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards while achieving manufacturing goals.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Train and manage production employees by assigning responsibilities and tasks to properly manage the workflow
Oversees the daily workflow and assignments of the production shift and detect issues in efficiency while suggesting improvements to meet goals
Communicate job expectations; coach/counsel and follow disciplinary procedures
Enforce policies, rules and regulations and ensure that employees comply
Guide and monitor employee’s performance and productivity
Shows respect and consideration to all employees while valuing each member of the team equally
Handle problems and conflict that may arise with professionalism and fairness
Maintains knowledge of processes and equipment
Notifies maintenance department of equipment problems that interfere with production as soon as they may arise
Work closely with Line Leaders to communicate clear expectations while giving support and encouraging leadership
Ensures paperwork is completed and signed correctly
Set clear goals and expectations during morning meetings while encouraging suggestions
Performs other related duties as assigned
Manages labor and standards
Approves payroll hours for production employees
Job Knowledge, Education and Experience:
Thorough understanding of/or the ability to quickly learn production operations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate processes, expectations, and goals to the team to keep them informed and engaged
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Self-motivated and strives to accomplish goals with little to no direction
Excellent prompt and regular attendance
Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks efficiently to the appropriate employee while recognizing employees’ strengths/weaknesses to utilize them as effectively as possible
Excellent teamwork skills by treating employees like equal members to encourage involvement and maintaining/increasing morale
Willingness to learn by increasing skills/knowledge for continuous improvement
Demonstrate important social skills such as empathy to handle employee issues and complaints
Ability to work well under pressure and make tough decisions
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Capable of giving employees both positive feedback and improvement suggestions
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Familiar computer skills and willing to learn new systems
Demonstrates a good attitude
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior production leadership skills preferred
Metal fabrication experience is a plus
