Position Overview
Hour: 3:30 pm - 12 am
Pay Range: $20-$22 /hour
The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities during the evening shift, ensuring excellence in Safety, Quality, and Production. This hands-on leadership role provides direct supervision to frontline employees while driving operational performance, labor efficiency, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, customer-dedicated manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor ensures production schedules are executed safely and efficiently, customer and regulatory requirements are met, and employees are held accountable to established performance and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Supervise 2nd shift production operations to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals
- Provide direct leadership and supervision to frontline production employees
- Ensure production schedules and customer requirements are executed accurately and on time
- Monitor production performance, downtime, throughput, and line efficiency
- Coordinate with Warehouse, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Quality teams to minimize disruptions and maintain production flow
- Maintain an active presence on the production floor and address operational issues as they arise
Safety & Quality
- Enforce all safety, food safety, and quality programs, including GMP, AIB, and customer requirements
- Ensure employees follow company policies, regulatory standards, work instructions, and customer specifications
- Conduct routine floor observations and address unsafe conditions or behaviors
- Promote a culture where safety and quality remain the highest priorities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop hourly production team members
- Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, attendance, productivity, and performance
- Support employee training, onboarding, performance management, and workforce development
- Foster teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement throughout the shift
- Partner with staffing agencies and management to effectively manage temporary labor and staffing levels
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for production, quality, and safety issues
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, minimize downtime, and increase line efficiency
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives and process improvement efforts
- Escalate recurring production issues and recommend solutions to improve performance
Operational Management
- Monitor labor utilization and production metrics to achieve established operational targets
- Maintain accurate production reporting and system data, including WMS and production tracking systems
- Ensure proper staffing and employee placement based on production requirements
- Communicate production status, issues, staffing needs, and priorities to management
- Ensure effective shift handoff between production teams
- Support implementation of company initiatives and operational best practices
Qualifications
- 3+ years of manufacturing experience, with previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Experience leading frontline employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Food, beverage, packaging, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GMP, food safety, and quality systems
- Ability to manage production priorities, staffing, and labor efficiency
- Experience with WMS and manufacturing systems preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Ability to work 2nd shift in a manufacturing environment
Working Conditions
- Non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods
- Occasional lifting and movement throughout the production floor
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production demands
