Job Title: Production Supervisor - Direct Hire - 3rd shift
Location: Oregon, OH
Salary Range: $65-75K
Summary: Direct Hire Manufacturing Company is seeking a qualified and experienced Production Supervisor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will oversee and coordinate the activities of production employees engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture parts or products. This role requires a hands-on approach to ensure the smooth operation of the production line, meeting daily production requirements, and upholding quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review daily production requirements for the shift, ensuring all necessary resources are in place.
- Plan and direct production activities, establish priorities, and optimize human resources and equipment utilization.
- Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control departments.
- Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance for continuous improvement.
- Consult with Engineering for equipment modifications to enhance production and product quality.
- Revise production schedules and priorities in response to equipment failure or operating issues.
- Propose changes in working conditions and equipment use for increased efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve work problems, provide direction on company policies, and maintain time and production records.
- Participate in Employee Involvement meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Orient, train, and evaluate employees on new jobs; ensure a safe work environment and participate in accident investigations.
- Manage subordinate supervisors overseeing up to 60 production employees.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Union contract and organizational policies.
Education / Experience:
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school (Experience in lieu of degree, acceptable).
- Minimum of eight years of experience in a progressive manufacturing environment.
- Experience with JIT manufacturing and working knowledge of QS 9000 / ISO 9001 requirements.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment.
Skills:
- Language Ability: Effectively present information to management and employees.
- Math Ability: Basic math skills required.
- Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and handle problems in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Word & Excel, Internet, E-mail.
