Job Description - Production Supervisor - Assembly


Essential Duties and Responsibilities Summary:

General Supervision & Leadership Accountabilities:

  • Supervise production processes within assigned areas including, but not limited to, wire assembly, mechanical assembly, and bond assembly. 
  • Champion & ensure utilization of Lean Manufacturing tools & practices throughout dept at all levels.
  • Utilize both new and existing ERP tools & processes for maximizing production efficiencies & effectiveness.
  • Ensure a culture of continual Improvement within dept.
  • Accountable for ensuring all training requirements, certifications, and employee development objectives are met for all dept Leads and staff.
  • Provide leadership, support, and performance feedback to Orion team members as needed for achieving dept. & personal objectives.
  • Hire production floor staff that fit Orion’s Mission & Values to achieve company & department accountabilities.
  • Effectively coordinate, implement, and monitor corrective/preventative actions to resolve performance problems quickly.
  • Ensure that safe working conditions are provided for all staff members and Program Participants
  • Lead by example and exhibit behaviors consistent with Orion culture.

Work Performance Accountabilities:

  • Organize & Supervise production floor activities/processes to achieve schedule due dates, quality requirements, on time delivery, productivity objectives, and other dept. KPI’s as assigned.
  • Regularly report and communicate openly to management & internal staff on dept performance. 
  • Coordinate resolution of production problems.
  • Coordinate, and as needed, improve internal workflow between departments.
  • Ensure no silos and no single points of failure regarding dept. staff skills & abilities.
  • Ensure cross-training of department employees to enable seamless movement of staff where needed on the production floor. 
  • Directly and through Leads, manage production floor employee time and attendance.
  • Ensure proper function, maintenance, and calibration of all dept production tools & equipment including IT related equipment.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to management on new tools & equipment as needed for meeting projected growth, increasing productivity, efficiency & quality, or meeting customer capability expectations & requirements.

Production Floor Mentor Staff Accountabilities:

  • Embrace Orion’s Mission.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Mentors on Program Participants work assignments.
  • Ensure timely Mentor feedback to Program Participants and case managers on performance issues (including completion of Mentor Weekly evaluations to goal). 
  • Role model proper work ethics and behaviors at all times – personify “The Orion Way”.
  • Actively engage with T&E on creating weekly Program Participant Mentor assignments and schedules 

 Additional responsibilities & duties will be assigned as business conditions and requirements change.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Supervisory skills.
  • Manufacturing hands-on experience in Wire Harness fabrication and Mechanical Assembly/Bond required.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Organizational ability.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collectively.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to reach, manipulate, handle, and hold material.
  • Frequent use of vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and spatial relationship.
  • Frequent use of hearing ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of speaking ability to express or exchange ideas, communicate detailed information, or convey instructions.
  • Frequent lifting of 5 or 10 pounds, with occasional lifting to 35 pounds.
  • Exposure to manufacturing shop floor, requiring use of Safety Glasses.
  • Exposure to excess noise levels, necessitating the use of Hearing Protection.

Salary Description

$85,000-$110,000 per year, DOE
