What is the Job all About?

  • Production Technician
  • Morgan Hill, CA
  • Production technicians work in the media production department of the Anaerobe Systems branch of Biolog. The production technician works on the manufacturing floor and are critical employees in the manufacturing process of plated and tubed microbial growth media as well as microbial transport media. 
  • Entry level position: on the job training is provided.

Requirements

 Responsibilities:

  • Work cohesively within the production team in the manufacturing of plated and tubed microbial growth media. 
  • Pour, inspect and package pre-reduced anaerobically sterilized culture media in a sterile, timely and accurate manner.
  • Print product labels on tubes, plates, and packages.
  • Operate equipment such as autoclaves, heat sealers, chamber sensor/controllers, tube pouring machines, cap assembly robots, automated pouring lines, boilers, packaging automation, and printers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspection of production equipment
  • Read and follow manufacturing instructions according to manufacturing records and SOPs.
  • Accurately record production activities on manufacturing forms. 
  • Use sterile techniques and handling procedures to prevent contamination of the product.
  • Clean and disinfect production chambers before and after use; maintain a clean and orderly workplace; maintain cleaning logs.
  • Report any major issues or concerns to the production manager.

Requirements:

  • Able to work in a team to accomplish production goals.
  • Responsible and able to maintain predictable attendance. 
  • Able to consistently be at work on time. 
  • Able to communicate effectively with others, act in a professional manner, and uphold a professional work demeanor.
  • Understand, communicate, and follow work instructions in English.
  • Able to organize work, pay attention to detail, and uphold quality standards.

Physical Demands:

  •  Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble objects
  • Reach out to move objects on a manufacturing line
  • Sit or stand on the product manufacturing line for up to 2 hrs. 
  • Bend and lift boxes of supplies and products up to 35 lbs.
  • Push reactor vessels and production chambers on casters up to 250 lbs.
  • See small details in products for adherence to rejection criteria. 

Preferred experience:

  • Previous manufacturing line experience is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with heat sealers, peristaltic pumps, and/or continuous ink jet printers is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with commercial packaging machines and general automation is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry, biology, and math skills are preferred but not required. 
  • Previous experience with sterile techniques is preferred but not required.

Additional Information:

This position has a work schedule of 6:00am-4:30pm, Monday- Thursday.
