Job Description - Production Utility

Operate and adjust a group of machines to perform punching and sawing operations on a variety of metal products while maintaining quality standards and safety protocols.


Responsibilities



  • Refer to work schedules to determine which items to process and receive verbal instructions from others regarding daily assignments.

  • Operate brake press to punch hole patterns in metal products.  Monitor continually holes being punched for acceptable quality.  Replenish oil supply as needed.  Set up and change over as needed.

  • Operate a chop saw to cut stock to the desired finished-goods lengths.

  • Clean and lubricate machine components at regular intervals. 

  • Maintain work area in clean, orderly fashion.  Dispose of scrap materials in appropriate containers.

  • As directed, perform associated duties of less or equal difficulty.

  • Must be able to interact with employees professionally at all times.


Minimum Qualification



  • Be able to work and communicate with others and to follow direct orders. 

  • Good hand and eye coordination.

  • Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying).

  • Basic writing skills are required to complete daily production records.

  • Basic verbal communication skills are required to convey or interpret explanations of problems and to receive and understand work assignments.


Equipment Used (Machines, devices, tools, personal protective equipment, etc. used on this job)



  • Punch presses, drill press, Brake press, Jambup, DV1, EXV, Lennox, auto Heims, Tile edge, manual heim, hand-feed chop saw and Oliver saw, forklift.  Hearing protection, eye protection and safety shoes.


Environment/Surroundings



  • Noise levels require the use of earplugs. 

  • Due to noise levels, verbal communication may be difficult at times. 

  • Sometimes an oily mist is present in the air along with a slight smoke from saw cuts. 

  • Saws are among other fabrication operations in an area that does not have air conditioning.  The floor is concrete with no covering.


Schedule



  • First Shift: Monday-Thursday, 5:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
