Job Title: Production Welder – Aluminum Castings (Foundry)

Location: Clinton, SC

Company: Southern Aluminum Foundry (Part of the CaneKast Network)

Department: Production

Reports To: Production Supervisor / Welding Manager

Job Summary:

Southern Aluminum Foundry is seeking a proficient and reliable Production Welder to join our team. As a Production Welder, you will be responsible for welding aluminum castings to ensure top-quality production. The ideal candidate will have experience with aluminum welding in a fast-paced environment and be dedicated to maintaining high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-quality welding on aluminum castings, using MIG and TIG welding techniques, while adhering to Southern Aluminum Foundry’s strict quality standards.
  • Interpret and follow engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate welding and assembly.
  • Inspect and prepare aluminum castings for welding, ensuring they are clean, defect-free, and properly prepped.
  • Safely operate welding equipment, including welding machines, torches, and other tools to perform welding tasks.
  • Adjust welding parameters (heat, speed, and wire feed) to meet product specifications and ensure optimal weld quality.
  • Conduct visual and mechanical inspections of welds to verify strength, accuracy, and overall quality.
  • Perform post-weld grinding, polishing, or finishing to ensure smooth and accurate welds.
  • Work closely with the production team to meet daily production goals while maintaining a focus on quality and safety.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve welding issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, including materials used and time spent on each project.
  • Continuously improve welding skills and knowledge of materials and best practices to stay current with industry standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Welding Certification preferred (e.g., AWS or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience welding aluminum, preferably in a foundry or casting environment.
  • Proficient in MIG and TIG welding techniques for aluminum.
  • Proficient in welding techniques for other metals as well. (Steel, Iron, Cast Iron...etc).
  • Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and best practices.
  • Detail-oriented with strong precision welding skills.
  • Ability to work on repetitive welding jobs.
  • Problem-solving ability to address welding challenges efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in a noisy, hot, and potentially hazardous environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as welding helmets, gloves, and protective clothing, is required.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with [day shift/afternoon shift/night shift] available.
  • Work in a foundry environment with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy machinery.
  • Overtime may be required based on production needs.
