Production / Quality Technician – Cudahy

DESCRIPTION DATE: March 2025

LOCATION: Cudahy

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Production / Quality Technician reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for all support elements of the Cudahy facility as well as inspection, gage management and customer facing layouts. The Production / Quality Technician will support a safe, efficient work environment and ensure efficient product and material flow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in developing daily production schedule, including Set Up and Production activity
  • Adhere to all safety, quality and company policies and procedures
  • Create Job Write-Ups
  • Order gages
  • Coordinate external gage calibration, internal gage maintenance and calibration
  • Data entry of quality system records

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deems necessary. Employees are and will be held accountable for all duties of the job.

Facilities, Schedules, Materials, and Quality:

  • Purchase materials, supplies, and tools when necessary
  • Review and report on individual orders; Daily Production Meeting
  • Generate Cudahy specific Daily Shipment Reports
  • Facilitate, schedule (with the Production Scheduler), and expedite production
  • Prepare Work Order packets (documents & gauges) for upcoming jobs
  • Perform Quality Inspections as needed, including data entry

Raw Material:

  • Receipt into Epicor
  • Material identification, including the management of certificates
  • Quality Inspections 
  • Release to Jobs
  • Raw material Inventory accuracy

Subcontract processes:

  • Purchase Order generation
  • Logistics / Communication with Shipping (Delavan)
  • Quality Inspections
  • Receipt into Epicor

Shipping processes:

  • Logistics / Communication with Shipping (Delavan)
  • Billing / Communication with Delavan

Quality Processes:

  • Calibration of measurement instruments
  • Verify accuracy of gages and measuring equipment
  • Assist in orientation of new production employees with regard to gauge maintenance and gage calibration
  • Assist in Quality inspection activities and ISO audits & other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. 

  • Post high school education in applicable areas preferred
  • Experience in multiple applicable areas of manufacturing environment for 1-3 years
  • Strong leadership, customer service, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, in a team environment and in a solo capacity
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail, problem solving, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Possess data entry and computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP applications
  • Ability to understand and comply with all company, safety and quality policies and procedures and advocate ISO system standards
  • Possess knowledge of gage maintenance and calibration 
  • Exhibit core values of integrity and accountability
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and efficient work area
  • Read, write and interpret documents and instructions in written, oral, blueprint, diagram and schedule form (English)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds safely
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, stoop, crouch and kneel; use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands, arms and feet
  • Vision requirements include (corrective or non) close range, distance, color, peripheral, depth and focus
