Job Description - Program Associate, Nature Conservation

Program Associate, Nature Conservation

Major Function

The Bezos Earth Fund is accelerating progress toward a more equitable, sustainable, and climate-resilient world.  We're seeking an early-career professional who combines strong analytical and organizational skills with deep curiosity about global conservation strategy, global-to-local partnerships, and philanthropic decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated to learn by doing, equally comfortable supporting day-to-day operations and contributing to higher-level analysis and synthesis.

The Program Associate will play a hands-on role across a wide range of work, from administrative coordination and meeting logistics to data analysis, portfolio learning, relationship management, and support to innovative conservation initiatives. We are looking for someone who brings a strong work ethic and a team-first mindset, and who sees operational excellence as foundational to long-term leadership.

Key Responsibilities

The Program Associate will work with the Associate Director of Nature Conservation and 30x30 Program Managers to:

  • Collect, organize, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to inform investment strategies, portfolio reviews, and programmatic decision-making.

  • Support the full grantmaking cycle, including due diligence, documentation, milestone tracking, and coordination with internal teams.

  • Review and analyze grantee reports across assigned regions to contribute to learning agendas, impact assessments, and compelling storytelling for internal and external audiences.

  • Coordinate with grantees, partners, and donor coalitions—including scheduling, drafting agendas and meeting notes, tracking inputs, and managing pre- and post-meeting workflows.

  • Draft and deliver clear, compelling program updates, briefs, presentations, and other materials for leadership, donor coalitions, and strategic partners.

  • Plan and execute meetings and workshops tied to nature conservation initiatives, including logistics, materials preparation, and post-meeting communications.

  • Dedicate approximately 25% of time to administrative and operational support, including meeting coordination, travel planning, and tracking inputs across workstreams.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in environmental management or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.

  • At least 3 years of experience in nature conservation planning and project management.

  • Direct work experience in one of our priority 30x30 regions is highly valued.

  • Experience in the creation and management of protected areas is especially relevant.

  • Significant professional experience living and working in Latin America or the Asia-Pacific region strongly preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong alignment with the mission and values of the Earth Fund.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized, with strong project management, follow-through, and attention to detail.

  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate across diverse cultures, geographies, and time zones.

  • Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

  • Naturally collaborative, with a team-first mindset, shares credit, and supports the success of colleagues, partners, and grantees.

  • Fluency in English required; working proficiency in an additional language such as Spanish, Portuguese, or French strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • May require extended hours for urgent issues or to meet established deadlines.

  • This position is based in Washington, D.C.

  • May undertake limited domestic and/or international travel.

Salary Range: $88,000 - $ 109,200

This is a paid position. Bezos Earth Fund is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all federal, state, and local laws concerning employment discrimination. The Earth Fund recognizes diversity as an asset essential to accomplishing its work. We actively welcome all qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, sex, gender identity or expression, genetic information, sexual orientation, religion, marital status, national origin, ethnicity, disability, military/veteran status, compensation history or any other basis prohibited by law.
