Position Summary
The Cellular Therapy Program Coordinator is a specialized clinical role responsible for the overall clinical and programmatic development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of the Cellular Therapy (CAR-T) program. Serving as the central point of contact, this role coordinates care across the full continuum—from referral and eligibility assessment through cell collection, infusion, inpatient and outpatient management, and long-term follow-up. The coordinator partners closely with patients and caregivers, multidisciplinary clinical teams, apheresis services, laboratories, inpatient and outpatient oncology services, and cellular therapy manufacturers to ensure the safe, timely, and compliant delivery of CAR-T therapy.
This position provides complex, multi-disciplinary coordination for a highly specialized oncology population, developing, evaluating, and refining care pathways based on comprehensive patient assessments and collaboration across departments. The coordinator interfaces directly with Valley Hospital, Valley Medical Group, administrative, nursing, medical, and quality leadership, as well as affiliated Mount Sinai departments. In addition to direct care coordination, the role leads the development and implementation of organization-wide standards of care, with a focus on clinical excellence, education, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and patient outcomes.
Education
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN required. Masters preferred.
Experience
Minimum of three years of oncology or hematology experience. Cellular therapy experience and OCN or BMTCN certification preferred.
Skills
Ability to manage a changing work environment because of varying patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes. Proven interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills to effectively connect (oral and written) with patients, physicians, and co-workers. Demonstrated competence, clinical expertise, and sound professional judgment. Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively with health care team member and diverse patient populations. Ability to use effective time management to set priorities and perform job related responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to use effective analytical and critical thinking skills to problem-solve, make clinical decisions, and respond quickly to meet patient care and departmental needs. Attentive to details and the ability to perform work accurately, with the ability to shift quickly from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
