Job Description

AHRC NYC is looking to hire a Program Director to help oversee their Bronx Adult Day Program.

Salary: $75,000 per year plus a very generous and comprehensive Benefit Package...see Benefit information below.

SCOPE OF POSITION

The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the program-related and operational aspects of his/her specifically-assigned facility site or program, with a primary focus on facilitating innovative service delivery and effective quality assurance in the provision of person-centered support to individuals.  The Program Director also ensures strong supervision of program supervisors and active oversight of a program’s fiscal condition.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that daily program operations provide safe, compliant, person-centered services to individuals through innovative service delivery and consistent adherence to regulatory mandates and rules. 
  • Ensures that services adequately meet physical, social and developmental needs of individuals and that there are adequate protections of each individual’s health, safety, comfort, well-being and civil, human, and legal rights as outlined in State Regulations.
  • Provides strategic and tactical guidance to program supervisors in sustaining and enhancing supports provided to individuals and in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of these supports.
  • Communicates regularly with personnel about program changes, compliance and quality assurance issues, and other critical topics that impact the program’s ability to operate effectively and efficiently. 
  • Oversees all aspects of staff development, including active observation, supervision of assigned staff on a regular basis, and staff training, hiring, firing and staff assignments.
  • Evaluates and presents information/recommendations to department directors about quality-related concerns regarding services/programs, budget and, as applicable, physical environment.
  • Works with department directors on proper monitoring of enrollment and billing protocols and implements as needed any corrective actions identified by compliance surveys/audits.   
  • Develops and maintains positive community relationships and, as applicable, represents the agency as participating member of various industry committees, task forces or advocacy groups. 
  • Conducts routine contact with family members/guardians/advocates as needed.
  • Performs all additional duties, as requested.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field of study and at least five years related experience, or Bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of related experience required.
  • Demonstrated success in supervising staff or in personnel resource management required.  
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable regulations and contemporary knowledge of new developments and changes made in the field of developmental disabilities and autism required.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with family members, program staff and external professional staff, as well as demonstrated excellence in listening and writing skills.
  • Must have solid organizational, multi-tasking and delegation skills, as well as ability to initiate and follow through independently on a variety of program issues. 
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, show sound judgment in setting of priorities, address potential operational issues, and handle and/or diffuse time-sensitive and/or stressful situations.
