The Program Manager for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) is responsible for overseeing the management, support, and development of DSPs who provide essential care and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Program Manager ensures the delivery of high-quality services, compliance with regulatory standards, and the implementation of best practices to promote the well-being, independence, and integration of the individuals served. This role involves coordinating training, managing staffing needs, and mentoring and fostering a supportive work environment for DSPs.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight:
Manage and oversee all aspects of the Direct Support Professional program, ensuring the delivery of person-centered services.
Help develop and implement policies, guidelines and procedures to maintain high-quality service standards and compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make adjustments as necessary to improve service delivery.
Oversite shall be in compliance to the DDA QA required process.
Staff Management:
Recruit, train, supervise, and support a team of DSPs, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet program needs.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and develop professional growth opportunities for DSPs.
Address personnel issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and staff retention strategies.
Training and Development:
Design and implement comprehensive training programs for DSPs to enhance their skills and knowledge in providing care and support.
Assure staff meets all required continued education and annual requirements.
Ensure DSPs receive ongoing training in areas such as person-centered planning, communication, crisis intervention, and safety protocols.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Client Support:
Collaborate with DSPs to develop and implement individualized service plans that align with the goals and preferences of the individuals served.
Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of individuals receiving services, and ensure DSPs are providing appropriate support.
Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals served, fostering an environment of respect and dignity.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure all program activities comply with state, federal, and organizational regulations and standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including incident reports, service plans, and staff records. Submit required documentation to the Administrative team and DDA per DDA policy time lines.
Prepare and submit reports as required by regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
Community Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with community partners, families, and other stakeholders to support the integration and inclusion of individuals served.
Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and outreach activities.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma, Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in a leadership, supervisory or managerial role within the field, preferably with experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
Knowledge of person-centered planning, positive behavioral support, and crisis intervention strategies.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other relevant software.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel between program locations as needed.
Capacity to perform physical tasks such as lifting and assisting individuals served, if necessary.
Work Environment:
The role requires a combination of program-based work and community settings.
Must be available to support all work Mon-Sun, including all shifts as required to support programs.
