Job Summary
The Beautywell Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing colorism, skin-lightening practices, and harmful chemical exposures within communities. Through education, research, empowerment, and advocacy, the organization works to promote wellness and drive meaningful policy and systems change.
The Program Manager will play a central role in leading and coordinating high-impact public health initiatives. This position will oversee multiple programs focused on youth engagement, community advocate training, ethnic media partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and systemic change. The Program Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure program goals, deliverables, reporting requirements, and community partnerships are successfully managed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate a two-part social media strategy using youth ambassadors and influencers to engage young people throughout Minnesota.
- Oversee the production of 40 influencer videos and 40 digital animations focused on self-acceptance and chemical exposure risks.
- Manage monthly campaigns designed to achieve 100,000+ total impressions.
- Ensure educational resources and campaign materials are distributed in at least six languages.
- Plan and execute a minimum of 10 training sessions for at least 150 salon professionals serving Somali, Hmong, Latino, and other communities.
- Train salon professionals to identify products containing banned or harmful chemicals, including mercury and hydroquinone.
- Support professionals in effectively counseling clients about colorism and potentially harmful beauty products.
- Establish and manage a sustainable multilingual partnership network with ethnic media organizations.
- Coordinate training for 60 ethnic media professionals across four cohorts.
- Support the development of 60+ media placements across radio, print, video, and other partner outlets.
- Organize and execute a capstone Stakeholder Conference by Spring 2027 for 100+ attendees, including healthcare professionals, researchers, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead the development of a Stakeholder Roadmap Document containing five specific policy recommendations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, media professionals, advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers, and policy stakeholders.
- Ensure externally distributed digital materials comply with the State of Minnesota's Digital Accessibility Standards.
- Prepare and submit regular program progress reports and itemized invoices.
- Maintain current leadership and manager contact information on the organization's website.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to monitor program goals, timelines, deliverables, and overall program effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree completed.
- Previous experience in program management.
- Experience working with diverse populations and communities.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide community advocates and manage multiple complex program deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with community partners, media professionals, healthcare professionals, researchers, and policy stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs, deadlines, partnerships, and reporting requirements simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of public health principles and community health initiatives.
- Understanding of colorism and its impact on individuals and communities.
- Knowledge of skin-lightening practices and the health risks associated with chemical exposures.
- Experience with community outreach, advocacy, or public health education.
- Experience coordinating social media or public awareness campaigns.
- Experience facilitating professional or community-based training.
- Experience working with multilingual or multicultural communities.
- Experience developing partnerships with community organizations or media outlets.
- Familiarity with digital accessibility standards.
- Experience supporting policy, systems change, or stakeholder engagement initiatives.
Work Environment / Schedule
- Hybrid position based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- Office located at 1821 University Ave. W., Ste. #464-28, St. Paul, MN 55104.
- Part-time schedule of approximately 30 hours per week.
- Requires collaboration with the Executive Director, community partners, youth ambassadors, salon professionals, media professionals, healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders.
- May require attendance at community events, training sessions, meetings, and the Stakeholder Conference.
Compensation and Benefits
- $29 per hour.
