We have an exciting opportunity for a Program Manager to join our team of talented professionals.  

We have a market-based compensation structure. The estimated salary for this position will vary based on a candidate's transferable work experience and qualifications.  

As a Program Manager in the Adult Behavioral Health Program’s Urgent Care, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage the implementation of adult behavioral health programs as assigned including the management of Behavioral Health Urgent Care services, Mental Health Rapid Response services, and Intake services,
  • Ensure that program site/s provide a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment for clients, their families and staff
  • Ensure that clients, families and other guests who visit TGC consistently receive exceptional customer service
  • Managing staff and department within span of control, including but not limited to: making recommendations with particular weight as to the interviewing, selecting, hiring, and termination of staff; setting and adjusting hours of work; on-boarding and training staff; directing work and assignments; appraising and evaluation of staff work performance; handling of staff complaints and grievances; and disciplining employees.  
  • Provide training to Supervisors and program staff as needed
  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision to Supervisors and program staff as needed 
  • Monitor and provide feedback regarding staff performance
  • Facilitate the resolution of any potential disciplinary issues
  • Assist with development of protocols, policies and procedures 
  • Work within established program budgets, and submit financial reports as required by the agency and funding sources
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with agency staff and community partners
  • Serve as a liaison with people and organizations in the community
  • Advocate on behalf of adults and their families to help them meet their needs and improve their quality of life 
  • Participate in the assessment of community needs and service gaps
  • Work in conjunction with inter-departmental groups to ensure the quality, continuity and consistency of services
  • Participate in committees, task forces and other work groups within and outside of the agency as assigned
  • Work collaboratively to identify and eliminate barriers to services, and enhance existing services to meet the needs of adults and families
  • Responsible for participating in monthly Total Quality Management Committee meeting, actively implement the agency’s quality improvement initiatives within their assigned areas, monitor the implementation and adherence to the established quality      improvement initiatives, activities and policies.
  • Participate in program evaluation and program development initiatives
  • Complete a minimum of 24 hours of program or      position specific training annually
  • Complete clinical and other documentation in a timely manner consistent with agency the policies and procedures
  • Carry an agency cell phone as needed
  • Follow a professional code of ethics
  • Abide by the spirit and letter of the policies and procedures of The Guidance Center
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, you will need the following:

  • Must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling and possess the corresponding State of Michigan full licensure
  • At least one-year post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment services to adults and children with severe mental illness.
  • At least one-year of experience treating or working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.  
  • The BHUC Program Manager will meet the criteria for the Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and Children’s Mental Health Professional (CMHP) and Qualified Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Professional (QIDP) credential within 120 days of hire. 
  • Must possess a CAADC credential, or be on an active, approved registered MCBAP certification Development Plan within six weeks of hire. 
  • The BHUC Program Manager will have at least one year of experience supervising mental health programs that deliver services to children and adults with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders.  
  • Will possess and maintain appropriate certification and/or full licensure with the State of Michigan. 
  • Must have some experience with program development and program evaluation. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a favorable driving record.  
  • Additional requirements include: a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individuals and families, the ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with agency staff and community partners, and the ability to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems.  
  • Must have effective interpersonal communication and organizational skills, and a willingness to be flexible, patient and creative.  
  • Must have the ability to appropriately handle crisis situations
  • Program hours of operations are Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m.-12:00 a.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. Required hours per week are 37.5. Based on the needs of clients and the programs, some evening and weekend hours may be required.
