Versar, Inc. is seeking a full-time, Program Manager for our Geospatial & Digital Solution Market Sector. This is a hybrid position working out of our Newport News, VA office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and performance of a multidisciplinary team of project managers and subject matter experts within our Customer Solutions Directorate. The ideal candidate will assist our customers by devising novel and innovative digital solutions that best meet the needs of our customers. The Program Manager will be responsible for maintaining frequent and direct communication with our customers and leverage insights from this customer engagement to coordinate with the Vice President of the Market Sector to define the overall strategic direction of the sector. The candidate will work closely with the Vice President to set goals and strategy around employee development and recruiting and lead the operational aspects of the practice. The appropriately qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate previous success in the delivery of construction projects, proven leadership skills and a strong work ethic. Responsibilities:

  • The Program Manager is expected to work closely with the customer, know their mission and be familiar with their overall priorities.
  • Develops and maintains positive customer and client relationships to foster repeat business.
  • Determines resource and execution requirements to support clients’ program.
  • Monitors resource allocation to maximize efficient and effective management of business unit program.
  • Develops new approaches to advance digital techniques, tools, and program management of business unit to meet the needs of the client.
  • Advocates and encourages “lessons learned” exchange and technology transfer within business unit(s).
  • Monitors the performance of project managers’ execution of client program within the business unit(s).
  • Offers mentoring and encouragement to individual team members with the goal of encouraging and maintaining team unity, harmony, and overall efficiency.
  • Delivers oral and written presentations.
  • Leads production of proposals, statement of qualifications and other marketing / promotion materials to build practice.
  • May lead negotiations of fee offers, scopes of work, and contracts of work.
  • Leads program team and facilitate the communication and interaction between organization and client.
  • May perform as project manager on strategic projects or in resolution of technical and/or performance related problems.
  • Other duties may be assigned as company needs dictate. Management reserves the right to modify this job description at any time and at their discretion.

Required Skills:

  • Experience leading highly diverse military and civilian organizations providing the full spectrum of infrastructure management.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced planner that can assist customers in refining requirements to achieve critical objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience preparing and providing presentations in public and project settings.
  • Experience writing technical proposals and project documentation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Project.
  • Demonstrated and verifiable leadership experience.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with team members, customers, and consulting partners from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering solutions into easily understandable ideas for customers.

Required Experience

  • At least 12 years progressive leadership experience leading multidisciplinary teams in engineering and environmental fields
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar field.
  • Experience applying risk assessment and mitigation strategies by leveraging skills, experience, and education to build a better, more resilient, and sustainable future for clients that have mission critical waterfront infrastructure, airfields, transportation and logistics, environment and natural resource, facility, and public safety business services.
  • History of successfully managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to provide high level technical design oversight.
  • Willingness to mentor staff
  • Provide technical oversight.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work.
  • Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally.
