Job Description - Program Manager - Infection Prevention & Control

Responsibilities


Job Summary:


As the Manager of Infection Prevention, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and visitors by implementing and overseeing effective infection control practices.



Key Responsibilities:



Develop and implement infection prevention policies and protocols in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Provide leadership and direction to the infection prevention team, promoting a culture of vigilance and adherence to infection control guidelines.
Collaborate with various departments to assess infection risks and implement measures to prevent and control outbreaks.
Conduct regular infection control audits, surveillance, and analysis to identify areas for improvement.
Develop and conduct training programs for healthcare staff on infection prevention, standard precautions, and emerging infectious diseases.
Stay updated on the latest developments in infection prevention and control through continuous education and attending relevant workshops or conferences.
Ensure timely reporting of communicable diseases to the appropriate health authorities, as required by law.
Investigate healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), implement corrective actions, and monitor outcomes to prevent future occurrences.
Maintain accurate records and statistical data related to infection prevention activities.
Oversee the management and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare staff and ensure proper usage.
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to implement and monitor performance improvement initiatives related to infection prevention.
Assist with infection prevention-related regulatory inspections and audits.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing,
Bachelor degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field will be considered only if candidate has hospital expereince
Master's preferred.
Current license or certification in infection control (e.g., CIC - Certified Infection Control) is highly desirable.
Proven experience in infection prevention and control within an acute care setting.
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to infection prevention and control.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to work with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to analyze data and implement evidence-based infection control practices.
Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient and staff safety.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and infection control surveillance systems is a plus.
