Job Description - Program Navigator - Passport to Apprenticeship


ANEW is a nonprofit organization with a mission of building people, building communities. Founded in 1980, ANEW has a unique and successful reputation for assisting underserved populations into apprenticeship and family wage careers. ANEW is focused on changing the culture and demographics of industries that have historically not been diverse or inclusive.


 


POSITION TITLE:  Program Navigator – Passport to Apprenticeship(P2A)


JOB SUMMARY:
The Passport to Apprenticeship program, part of the broader Passport to Careers initiative, is designed to support youth and young adults (ages 13–21) who have experienced foster care after age 13 or unaccompanied homelessness within the past year. The program helps eligible participants explore, enroll in, and succeed in state-registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.


The Program Navigator – P2A serves as a critical point of contact for Passport participants, providing individualized support, barrier reduction services, and referrals tailored to each client's educational and career goals.



The ideal candidate for this role has experience working with sensitive populations, youth and young adults, navigating job placement and readiness, and collaborating with other CBO’s and nonprofit organizations to provide wraparound care.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES


·         Assisting clients with accessing financial assistance, supportive services, and wraparound resources (e.g., housing, transportation, GED support, and more).


·         Providing outreach support as needed, in coordination with ANEW’s outreach department, to ensure eligible participants, service providers, and community partners are informed of available services and opportunities.


·         Determine the eligibility of potential program participants.


·         Supporting participants through application, enrollment, and completion of apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship programs.


·         Build and grow relationships with apprenticeship programs, pre-apprenticeship programs, and other workforce development opportunities.


·         Facilitating career exploration, job readiness coaching, and goal setting in alignment with workforce development activities.


·         Use various means of ANEW technology to communicate with clients via secure portals


·         Handle Personally Identifiable Information and sensitive information confidentially and securely.


·         Collaborate with the College Success Foundation (CSF) and WA Passport Network.


·         Create and distribute a regular newsletter for the program, consisting of client success stories, and programmatic updates.


·         Send out targeted emails to applied, eligible, or enrolled clients to check in and gauge interest.


·         Maintain Salesforce data metrics, client profiles, and pipeline.


·         Tracking client engagement and progress, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to required grant reporting.


·         Conduct statewide virtual and in person presentations about Passport to Careers with a specific focus on the apprenticeship/pre-apprenticeship pathway.


·         Provide informational sessions


·         Perform outreach to other CBO’s and nonprofit organizations in order to promote collaboration and build relationships, in turn building a support service network.


·         Other Duties as assigned


MINIMUM / REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


·         Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, SharePoint), Salesforce, and general office equipment


·         Demonstrated commitment to economic, racial, and social justice and an understanding of the ways institutions and systems hurt communities of color through both conscious and unconscious bias


·         Flexibility and adaptability in working with a growing non-profit


·         Strong communication and administrative skills with a proven track record of managing multiple projects


·         Experience in working with collaborative partnerships


 


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS



  • Background screening through Washington State Patrol

  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include evening and or weekends

  • Proof of citizenship or other authorization for employment

  • Valid Driver’s license, and proof of insurability



  • Continuation of employment is contingent upon successfully performing work described

  • Continuation of this position is dependent on achievement of performance goals and availability of funding



 


WORK LOCATION: ANEW Tukwila Training Center and Satellite locations as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, exempt position. Regular workweek is 40 hours, Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. Occasional evenings, weekends, and some travel may be required. This position will include regular state-wide travel across Washington State. The successful candidate must be comfortable performing this travel as a condition of employment.


This position is classified as at-will, meaning either the employee or the employer may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice

REPORTS TO: Career Exploration Program Manager


COMPENSATION:
This position is paid a salary basis on a twice monthly payroll cycle. The Starting pay range for this position is $69,555.20 - $73,226.66 Per year. Starting wage is determined based on years of relevant experience and education completed by the applicant.

BENEFITS


The person in this position is expected to serve a 90-day probation period. Benefits will not be included until and unless the position is made permanent, which is contingent upon performance evaluation, funding, board direction, and potential re-development of the organization and its training/service delivery models. If the position is more than 30/hours per week, employer paid medical benefits will include medical, dental, and vision benefits.



A portion of the medical premium is made by the employee through a pre-tax contribution at time of payroll posting. Employees at 30/hours a week or greater qualify for full benefits and pay a pre-tax contribution of $80 per month. Additional employer paid benefits include basic life insurance, vacation, sick leave, holiday pay and taxes as required by law. ANEW also contributes a 4% match to a 401k after one year of employment. ANEW Employees will not be permitted to use paid vacation or sick leave until successful completion of their 90-day probationary period.
