Job Description - Program Specialist

BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct population needs assessments and present findings to Program Administration team
Conduct qualitative research to impact the supplemental services delivered to tenants
Outline policies and procedures and maintain Brook Tenant and Program guidelines and trackers
Work closely in collaboration with Continuous Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure that services follow DOHMH OPRE standards
Assist with development of staff and client trainings and workshops
Serve as a back up for assistance with medication monitoring, representative payee client services and maintain a small caseload of clients (2-3) as needed.
Develop and maintain boundaried relationships with tenants that enhances their residential and vocational experience
Develop resources to enhance residents’ access to cultural and educational services and events in the community
Work closely with program and department staff to plan tenant activities
Develop and facilitate culturally appropriate tenant activities including arts and crafts, cooking, movies, trips, games, karaoke, special events, and holiday dinners
Develop and oversee policies for managing computer lab and exercise room
Manage the computer lab and exercise room staff
Manage contract with exercise equipment vendor
Track event attendance and monitor success of various activities
Oversee the monthly tenant activity calendar and newsletter
Promote and advertise activities to tenants and staff through various methods including fliers, emails, and outreach phone calls
Prepare, serve, and track snacks and meals that comply with New York City Food Standards and document compliance
Communicate tenant participation and concerns to the Brook’s clinical team
Track and maintain supplies including food pantry and arts and crafts material
Assist clients in the preparation of resumes, cover letters, thank you letters and employment applications
Screen clients for jobs and prepare clients for interviews
Complete program reports monthly or more frequently as required
Assist with special projects as assigned
Work some evening hours and Saturdays as required
Develop and implement an Aging in Place Plan for the program
Conduct qualitative research to impact the supplemental services delivered
Outline policies and procedures and maintain Brook Tenant Policies folder
Work closely in collaboration with Continuous Quality Assurance Specialist to
Perform additional duties as assigned by manager
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree
Two years related experience with service population
Engaging personality and detail-orientated skills are essential.
Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required.
Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
