POSITION SUMMARY

The GSLE Program Specialist is responsible for all facets of developing and implementing quality Girl Scout programs, events, training, and opportunities commensurate with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This includes working in partnership with program department staff to deliver quality Girl Scout events, girl training and awards programs, global and travel opportunities, and recurring or episodic projects throughout the council and in assigned geographic areas. Will infuse and model the Girl Scout Law into their everyday work to fulfill the mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Works closely with the Program Director to develop and administer program team goals, strategies, and accountabilities to achieve the council’s objectives.

· Works with program staff to deliver quality programs commensurate with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, including:

o Managing the Program Aide and Volunteer in Training programs

o Coordinating the highest awards and working with the volunteer committee to approve and provide direction for the highest awards projects.

o Provides support to the council's Signature Events and Encampments

o Provides support to council fund development programs.

· Works collaboratively with all council departments to ensure council programs and initiatives are successfully marketed to girl and adult membership. This includes assisting with the creation of the annual Program Resource Book.

· Forges relationships with volunteers across the council, resulting in a deeper understanding of our membership, broader support for council events and initiatives, and the development of program offerings that reflect the needs of our members and regional or geographic realities.

· Develops relationships and works collaboratively across departments to support council, regional, and functional efforts, especially as related to increasing membership growth and retention.

· Develops business system proficiency and works with the department team to track data, retain, and develop documents and processes.

· Effectively represent the organization to the community at large

· Provide safety instructions and supervision for all activities in their program focus: Target Sports, Challenge Course and/or Low Ropes, Small Watercraft, Swimming, Equine, etc.

· Assist in the facilitation of activities in their program focus.

· Assist in the upkeep of facilities, as needed, to deliver programming.

· Complete regular equipment safety checks.

· Maintain all equipment and complete pre- and post-session supply and inventory.

· Provide training to staff and volunteers commensurate with experience and certification level.

· Attend department meetings as scheduled by the managing department.

· Maintain regular communications with the manager.

· Stay up to date on the latest safety procedures for program focus and inform the supervisor if certification needs to be renewed.

· Follow facility rules and policies, and ensure participants adhere to facility rules and policies.

· Maintain a positive attitude and professionalism with participants, parents, volunteers, and staff.

KNOWLEDGE AND CREDENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Required

· Minimum of one year of experience working in a non-profit or a membership-based organization.

· Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Preferred

· Knowledge of Girl Scout Leadership Experience

· Experience in youth development, program management, education, community engagement and partnership development, event coordination, and/or volunteer management

· Bachelor’s Degree

ABILITY AND SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS

· Subscribes to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement

· Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.

· Strong human relations skills and can work well with people of diverse backgrounds.

· Ability to exercise good judgment.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Excellent computer skills

· Solution-driven with the ability to effectively solve problems.

· Ability to think creatively and innovatively about programming and build rapport for the

· Ability to network effectively and create new partnerships for the Council.

· Demonstrated ability to recruit and manage volunteers.

HOURS AND TRAVEL

· Occasional travel, some overnight

· Flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends.
