RATE OF PAY/SALARY: $32.97 per hour

WORK LOCATION(S): Newburgh, NY 

STATUS: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Senior VP, the Corrections Health Initiative (CHI) Program Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the CHI program in the NYSDOCCS Sullivan HUB (Eastern, Ulster, Woodbourne, Sullivan, and Otisville Correctional Facilities. The Supervisor responsibilities include staff management, program development and implementation, and contract compliance. The position is a working supervisor providing direct services within the Correctional Facilities to support staff, assisting in education as well as Linkage and Navigation Services. 

Key Competencies:

  • Development and supervision of staff and programs to provide appropriate supportive services.  
  • Manage programs to comply with all agency policies and funder program standards, resulting in quality client care through tracking and monitoring contract deliverables to maintain contracts. 
  • Develops and oversees implementation HIV/HCV/STI related trainings to educate incarcerated individuals. Conducts DOH CHI Peer Educator training to prepare incarcerated individuals to become peer facilitators. 
  • Maintains working relationship with NYS DOCCS staff and follows rules set forth by NYS DOCCS.

Description of Duties:

  • Providing support to staff providing educational trainings and LNS services within assigned correctional facilities within NYSDOCCS.
  • Provide training for incarcerated individuals interested in becoming peer educators.
  • Assist the program in setting up trainings within each facility.
  • Provide individual education and risk assessments to individuals who are living with or risk of HIV and/or HCV, peers, and all Linkage & Navigation clients.
  • Compile program data, ensure that all required data is entered into the AIDS Institute Reporting System (AIRS) and prepare reports in accordance with funder’s requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with NYS DOCCS staff and other community-based organizations. 
  • Develop and maintain resource networks for service coordination.
  • Engage in weekly supervision with the supervisor.
  • Participate in department and program meetings. 
  • Hold meetings with facility staff to assess program needs and address concerns.
  • Complete monthly reports and statistics in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Collect and enter data into the AIRS database.
  • Comply with all NY SDOCCS and facility rules and regulations and maintain working relationships with NYS correctional staff.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of HIV, HCV, STI, Harm Reduction, Cultural Humility. TIC, and other related information.
  • Continually conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure the maintenance of client charts, adherence to program standards, the goals, and objectives of the workplan and compliance with agency policies.
  • Assist in program coverage when needed.
  • Attend and participate in monthly department, All Staff and other required meetings. 
  • Be familiar with Cornerstone policies and procedures and the Employee Handbook. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of Cornerstone including, but not limited to, patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field. Or Associates degree in related field with at least one year of supervisory experience. 
  • Minimum one year experience working with incarcerated individuals and chemical dependency.
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory position. 
  • Knowledge of HIV/STIs and HCV, harm reduction, mental health, and community resources.
